White House insiders have vented their anger at National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, with one reportedly calling him a 'f***ing idiot' after it emerged that he added a prominent journalist to a secret group chat revealing highly sensitive war plans.
'Everyone in the White House can agree on one thing: Mike Waltz is a f***ing idiot,' the source, identified as a 'person close to the White House', bluntly told Politico.

Folks, take a deep breath. I suggest we wait to see how this shakes out.
REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO GENERAL MICHAEL FLYNN IN 2017.
There were scads of people on Free Republic who called for General Michael Flynn’s head, said he should be fired because he “lied to the President”. Let’s all take a deep breath. Don’t be those people.
Walz is the National Security Advisor. Who was the last National Security Advisor in the White House who was fired after a setup and contrived scandal with the press?
Yeah. General Michael Flynn.
Coincidence? Maybe. How many of you out there believe in coincidences, raise your hand. Because I am not raising mine.
I wonder how differently Trump looks at things like this in 2025 after he saw how General Flynn was set up by the Deep State and he pulled the trigger to fire him in 2017 because he was new to the Presidency, and still learning the ropes?
If the Flynn setup was happening today, I suspect Trump would handle it very differently, so I am interested to see how this progresses.
This stinks to me.
This sounds like it is a possible a setup of some kind. Not saying it is. But it is possible, especially when one views it through the prism of General Michael Flynn. Especially if Politico is involved. And don’t forget: Politico was the recipient of USAID money, which means to me, it is Deep State money. Color Revolution money. Intelligence Community money.
If Trump doesn’t fire Walz, that is going to give a clue that he doesn’t find Walz culpable. If he does fire him, it is indicative of a lapse in judgement on Walz’s part.
It is my opinion that, unless there was an egregious error on Walz’s part, Trump is not going to fire him. And he shouldn’t.
This is only my opinion.
Ok...why does a Waltz staffer have Golberg's contact info?
Why does ANYONE in the Trump White House have that info?
“person close to the white house”...so the journalist?
This one mistake is of little consequence and won’t be repeated. What matters long-term is policy and the guts to implement.
Hold on.
Step One is to find the doof who spilled to Politico and get rid of him.
Why does he even have this Politico reporter’s email address handy?
Please get it right next time. It's kinda important, lest your readers get confused also.
Thanks.
Thanks. I suspect most people knew who I was referring to, we don’t have Tim Walz in the White House...thank goodness.
Personally I don’t trust Flynn at all, but I wasn’t calling for his head back then.
Did you read my post #57? Does that mean nothing to you?!?
Did Trump want this out there? Does Trump find unconventional ways to get information out there? Did Trump administration set up a member of the press? WINNING!
Latest I've heard is Mike Waltz asked a staffer to add someone to the group chat. The staffer supposedly looked up the person's number on his or her cell phone contacts and entered into the group chat list. Magically the contact number had one wrong digit which just happen to be the journalist exact number.
I find that story about as believable as Alejandro Nicolas Mayorkas secured the southern border.
Now we will be bombarded with media stories on the Republican internal strife that is risking national security. The truth is Mike Waltz was probably blindsided by a very suspicious staffer with the goal of having Waltz terminated.
identified as a ‘person close to the White House’ As lives in Washington D.C.? If you want credibility, reveal your sources. THis is what makes the Guardian special - they don’t give a damn about accuracy.
That is something I might say as an average American, but again, Politico, Guardian, etc, refuse to reveal or quote a source. Near the White House? That could be someone standing outside of the gate.
Just reported on FOX, Waltz claims he has never met or spoken to Goldberg. It appears a staffer added Goldberg as a contact which allowed access to the Signal meeting.
This sounds like the most reasonable explanation. DC is full of “staffers” who want to undermine this administration.
Most of these guys are in capable of setting things like this up. It was a lefty staffer of one of the participants.
Maybe the true purpose of the conversation on signal was to flush out the “staffer” who had the Atlantic journalist’s contact info and is a suspected leaker.
I agree. Funny.. I read your post, started to reply and was wondering ,”who is this person of reason”? Oh… it’s RL
This smells very much like a setup to me. How hard can it be for someone monitoring these communications to add someone to it?
Let’s do some investigation. No real damage done. If this really happened as they say? All involved should get some ‘remedial training” and a probation letter. But it sounds a little TOO convenient to me.
I’m looking at it more from the perspective of a guy who used top secret and JWICS-level communications as a regular part of his duties. This kind of conversation should not be held over a commercial app, even if that app is “encrypted“. They should have been on JWICS or in a SCIF.
That’s fine that you didn’t or don’t trust Flynn, that is a personal opinion for you.
But it is wholly indisputable that he was set up by the Deep State with a collaborating media. He did not deserve to be fired.
As for his wife, do you think that Trump and his advisors know about her?
I assume they do, that it was a part of the vetting process, and that a post on Free Republic about his wife’s activities would not come as a surprise to them. I trust that they reviewed her status and what she is up to, especially for a position such as NSA.
I believe if there is a risk, Trump’s team has considered it.
If you have any Information about his vetting process or what their considerations were, I wouldn’t mind hearing more, since I didn’t follow it that closely during the selection process.
