A daycare employee was caught on surveillance footage aggressively tossing a toddler into scalding water after changing his diaper - and his mom is taking action.
Sharece Besley sued the Young Mindz Learning Academy in Dekalb County, Georgia, for dumping her nine month old son in scalding hot water and holding him there for three minutes.
The surveillance footage revealed the employee harshly placed Virgil, Besley's child, on a changing table before ripping his diaper off.
The employee then put Virgil in a sink filled with piping hot water for several minutes, while other children ran around the area.
The toddler needed medical attention and was left with second-degree burns after the shocking incident.
It wasn't until the employee took Virgil out of the water that she realized the child was in pain.
She was seen running around the daycare talking to other employees in a state of panic when she realized the harm she'd done.
Besley told local ABC affiliate, WSBTV News, that her son struggled to recover from the burns, adding that it hurt him to urinate or when she tried to change his diaper.

Mom has to work, and nobody is available to look after the child other than daycare .
Won’t be much money coming to her. Many of these places with z instead of s to make a noun plural don’t have good liability insurance and run on the edges of not even being legitimate businesses. They cater to certain demographics looking for cheap options.

Tap water from the hot side is usually set at 120 degrees, which is not scalding. 130 might be. A daycare center should not have the hot side higher than 130, which is where it becomes painful after maybe 30 seconds. I have a kitchen faucet with a touch sensor, but when you use the touch sensor it all comes from the hot side. After using it for a few minutes the water is too hot to wash dishes. So, I tinkered with the hot water heater. If I set the hot water heater to 130, it gets to the tap at about 120, which you can hold your hands under as long as necessary. TMI.

Even as a child I learned mom’s, grandmom’s and aunties dipped an elbow in the baby bath water to see if it was not too hot. It does not tale a lot of intelligence for that.
No place dealing with very young, very old, or developmentally challenged persons should EVER have water that can get that hot. There are mixing values that can be added to the plumbing to prevent that.
It should be standard in schools, camps, child care facilities, etc.

Baby should have been with mommy and not inthe care of strangers. Prayers for this child.
If your day care can’t be bothered to spell “Minds” correctly, you probably shouldn’t bother to place your child with them.
So a similar incident happened in 2023.
