How Rich Nations Dump Old Cruise Ships And Oil Tankers In Developing Countries | Risky Business
Gadani is the world's third biggest shipbreaking hub. But many ships come there illegally from Europe, the Middle East, and China. We went to Pakistan to figure out why international laws are being ignored.

No wonder leftist views are so common in society!

Steel from old vessels are recycled. So what’s wrong with that
There's money to be made throughout the supply chain and (product) lifecycles.
I wonder if our tax dollars are providing support?
Somehow, probably, yes..
It is not the ship breaking that is a problem, it is how they do it. They run the ship ashore on a beach and cut it up, but don’t do any safe removal of toxic chemicals or materials first. They are creating what would be a superfund site in the US on the beach and in the ocean. It is also super dangerous for the workers.
This is where old outdated cruise ships, massive coal and oil tankers, etc. go. To get taken apart with oxy-acetylene torches and some clever ways that I would not have imagined.
The steel is recycled into Pakistan’s steel industry. That I have never heard of. Though I have heard of India/s. So maybe the recycled steel parts also go to Tata steelworks etc.
The ships get to this Pakistani beach under their own last gasp of diesel power. Though some might be towed there. The primary cutting up is done while they are still 3/4 in the water. This where the workers cut n lop off large steel panels that drop into the beach water.
Really, isn’t it basically the same with used cars, used houses? Used anything is typically bought by people who can’t afford the new shiny thing, or those who prefer the savings over brand new items. Nothing wrong with that. “Dumping” sounds like leftist agitprop. Why not say donating, or offering for sale at a discount? Who says they can’t buy new ones if they can afford it?
So. Good do it there not here.
The lyrics tell the story pretty clearly, even without the accompanying video.
“Dumpin” is, as you say, leftist crappola. Since none of these clowns writing this drivel have ever had a real job, everything others do must be ridiculed.
Some years back the same was done by IT companies to deal with old computers. Many touted their “recycling”. Crappola. All they did was sell the stuff on to other 3rd and 4th parties — who put the crappola on a ship and dumped it into piles in China and the SEast asian countries.
I got involved in this crappola while reviewing contracts for “recycling”. We had to insert clauses that our vendor had to prove that recycling worked — not just fob us off to another party for such info. That killed the process.

Beat me to it. BI should be SI (Socialist Insider).
Recycling is mostly BS to make people feel good about being Green. If people won’t pay for the materials, it’s probably BS.
The Pakistanis can do what they like with these old ships..... See the video and see how they are creatively dismantled/ Which is why I posted this/
200 men dismantlesan entire ship in 3 months!?? if I heard and read that right, id say thats pretty impressive...
and the math... 200 x $4 a day times 90 days... that $72,000 in labor. someone is making some money...
Wasn't Twitter's actual user-base something like 50% of their published subscriber population? Bots used to boost apparent influence.
Life is cheap in such places stricken with dire poverty. Plenty of replacements willing to step up.
Uh, maybe because they get away with it.
