(The Brady Bunch vs Law and Order SVU)
(Excerpt) Read more at x.com ...
GET A JAB! In the pharmacy locally there were signs for seven different jabs they were peddling to adults. This adult and his bride have avoided them, and we're doing just fine with Bancel and Bourla and Tedros and all those fine "let us poke you" folks.
I don't remember much about the measles, but that was the best parfait that I ever had!
Point well taken
“Lucky to be alive.”
Me too, I had all of those, and I had Scarlet Fever too. That was the sickest I ever was.
Measles is no joke. The complications, though rare, can be deadly. As we see from current news reports.
Can’t measles in older boys and men often make them sterile? It seems they’ve been somewhat successful in messing with women’s reproductive health via “the vax”. Maybe now they’re concentrating on the men.
We aren't talking about the science. We are talking about the change in attitudes and the absolute hysteria of today compared to when people were normal.
Normal? lol
It’s hard to imagine, but yes, there was indeed a time when people were normal. I recall it fondly. What the Hell happened? (Rhetorical question)
“ Everyone used to get measles. It can be fatal, but yup, the Law and Order approach is hysterical.
they used to have parties for kids to get measles mumps chicken pox....while young...”
I grew up with that, still here and doing well at 72.
I take it you're not normal?
“Can’t measles in older boys and men often make them sterile?”
I think that’s mumps, not measles.
‘ I take it you’re not normal?’
I have no idea what that even is in a practical sense. I’ve only seen ‘normal’ used to ridicule people who weren’t just like them.
The thread is about normal as reflected in The Brady Bunch.
A tv show. Actors.
The father was gay and died from hiv. The mother was sleeping with the step son. The oldest daughter was selling her body for drugs.
And we’re supposed to look back on fictional television shows and wistfully look back at the’ normal’ times?
You’re perpetuating a fantasy. Looking back at when you were happier, because you didn’t see the world as it was/is.
Grow up.
Oh, I think you’re right.
It’s TV show. The episode shows that people didn’t go apesiht over measles before hypochondria became fashionable.
‘ The episode shows that people didn’t go apesiht over measles before hypochondria became fashionable.’
Oy.
Yes. A tv show. A scripted sitcom television show.
That isn’t reality. Warp speed captain!
You know, what we really could learn is to keep an abundant supply of dilithium crystals on hand.
Measles was no big deal when I had it. It was expected that everybody would get it. We didn’t go apesiht over it as illustrated in the episode.
I had the measles. I think I was out of school for two to three weeks. I don’t remember much about it, but I do remember when I had chicken pox.
Yes, I had it too. Like everybody.
Once a while, measles came to town and infected everybody, who have not had in before.
Then they disappeared, until there were just enough new, not yet immune, kids. I think, scientists could even estimate the frequency of those epidemics!
In the hypothetical case of Brady Bunch, the older kids would likely had it, before the younger ones were born. But yes, if somebody in the family got it, everybody else got it too, that was given!
Anyway, I do not remember being too sick. just got rash, some fewer and aches. Measles took longer than the usual colds and flu, like 10 days or 2 weeks??
The doctors were also pretty jovial about measles then. “Just something everybody needs to go thru”. Passage to adulthood.
I remember reading something like “in rare cases, serious complications can develop”, but I do not remember anybody getting any complications.
When they started coming up with the vaccine, I remember thinking - why bother?!
Funny... I'm not seeing any posts here by all the people who didn't survive to tell the tale.
Regards,
I assume there is an age gap about this issue.
