This reads like NATO nations are cryin' in their beer, swearing they've got big plans, BIG PLANS and they'll show the US how BIG they are.

NATO is the United States. These countries don’t help us

“But NATO without the US is far from impotent”

So what’s the problem then?

No.

The US is NATO in reality.

Long term, internal squabbling and the French wanting NATO dead anyhow (competes with what they see as their power base) will end this organization unless we keep it alive...

Short term, yes. Long term, not a chance.

Can NATO survive without the United States?

Not sure I can come up with a reason to care if it does.

Who cares if NATO survives? Only the countries who haven’t paid their fair share all along.

Completely wrong question to ask. The correct question to ask is: What is wrong with an international alliance of governments whereby the withdrawal of any single government would undermine the stability of the entire alliance? If NATO is inherently so vulnerable then how the heck can it be expected to apply its forces when war theatre becomes REALLY critical?

I can think of at least 36.2 trillion reasons why the US cannot be the reliable backbone of NATO.

Just pull out the “T” and you’ll have what’s left. They’ll keep tossing in money and arms until the whole place will look like the moon.

Our support is 70% or more of the total. If we go, they go. And good riddance.

Sure it can.

A group of european socialist countries importing muzzies defending themselves against one larger socialist country.

We don’t need to pick sides. They are both bad.

NATO needs to die a violent death for the damage they done to Syria by overthrowing Assad. Because of the psychotic hatred of Russia, NATO just HAD to force Russia out of Syria.

Now Syria is governed by radical Islamics. As I’m typing this, Christians are being brutally slaughtered by NATO’s pet terrorists.

I’m sure the Zeepers are celebrating the bloodbath in Syria.

NATO’s formation was April 4th, 1949

76 years the alliance has existed. All these years the United States is what held it all together.

My thought really is...if your country or continent had to be so dependent that over the course of 75 years your leadership failed to develop your defenses...

why is that our fault? It would appear to me, your leadership failed to uphold the terms of the alliance.
