Law enforcement and divers are gearing up for a deliberate mission to bring a vehicle believed to be connected to a 1958 cold case up to the surface of the Columbia.

The KOIN 6 reporter has been interested in this missing persons case for twenty years or so, and got the diver who found the car interested in it about seven years ago. Some short period of time after the family vanished, the bodies of two of the daughters popped up downriver from this site.

Columbia River seems to be the area of another unsolved case - the guy that jumped from a plane with stolen money a few decades ago and was never found.
The DB Cooper case was solved, if memory serves.

I haven't seen it in decades but it was great.
Ghost story was one of the creepier movies I’ve ever seen. The young lady actress, whose name slips me now was excellent, and very sexy. She played the boss lady of the Borg on Star Trek TNG too.
Lots of people ‘disappear’. 6-7 cases in Dallas County alone in the last 10 years. Never found. Washed into the gulf if the turtles didn’t get em. Water kills.
Thanks that was cool.
Alligator in the East Fork and catfish. I suppose rotting flesh is gone halfway down.
Thanks I did not know that. She was way sexier in Ghost Story but then we all hate the BORG just too close to the liberal hivemind.
I remember that movie. It was good, with a lot of old timers in it. Gotta watch it again!
“Ghost Story”: Very good movie. I had forgotten all about it.
That was Alice Krige, who played the Borg Queen on Star Trek Voyager. (Seven of Nine was hotter, IMO.)
Jeri Ryan Borg woman - all woman with those painted on tights
my pleasure.
There’s an undercurrent (sorry) of local news snips on the web, inclduing YouTube, stories about solved missing persons reports, pretty much always, they drove into a body of water.
e.g. https://search.brave.com/search?q=Foss+Lake+missing+persons
Closer to my home, out here in The Boonies, about 5-10 years ago, a fisherman getting ready to pull his boat out of one of the big inland lakes realized he was standing on the roof of a car. That belonged to a woman who’d worked the late shift and about eight years earlier had never made it home. Apparently not even one thought about where to look. While pulling her out, a diver found a pickup with a recently missing guy inside.
Authorities have finally put up a real barrier. The section line road that leads to the access area is a little spooky to contemplate, when one knows where one is. In daylight, the section line road can be seen continuing some distance away, and the lake isn’t visible because of elevations.
Sad tale. If it is their car, I hope they find the missing remains of the family.
Apparently there’s work scheduled on some dam, so any further recovery work will have to wait. Since it’s already been 66 years and none of it will be going anywhere, everyone will need to be patient. I do wonder if the son who was already living on his own is still alive and/or has any living descendants.
