Having dealt with relatives with dementia, you are correct.

I understand the reading of an excerpt for a general topic of opinion, as imperfect as that is and as often as that results in poster errors, but in a fact based article like this where the headline says the answers are revealed, then a reading of is is pretty much required for those with questions.
***Gene Hackman and wife’s causes of death revealed.***

To quote the article.
“On Feb. 9, Arakawa picked up one of their three dogs — the dog who was later found dead in the home with the couple — from a vet hospital after a procedure, which may explain why the dog was discovered in a crate when the bodies were found, the sheriff said.”

At a minimum, they should have both been wearing these Life Alert necklaces. They're supposed to sense when the person wearing it falls and will immediately call (through the necklace?) to see if they're okay.

But with their money, there's no excuse for Gene to have not been moved into a nice care home. Or for a live-in nurse to come stay with them.

To quote the article.

With Alzheimers he wouldn’t be able to understand what was going on. And since she was no longer there to give him his daily medications he would be in very bad shape quickly.

Gene Hackman’s death is believable but his wife's death less so. I am not familiar with hantavirus but it is difficult believe it can kill so suddenly. Perhaps she tried to treat the symptoms herself.

I did not know that. Thanks

Vitamin A and ivermectin didn’t work.

My sister is the caretaker of my BIL who has dementia. If she died he’d just wander around the house or sit in a chair.

Once it enters the lungs it can kill you within 24 hours.
And I think she may have tried to treat it herself because she went to CVS on the day she passed.

It should take a team. One person would be exhausted being the caregiver all the time. Even more so as an elderly caregiver.
To: ansel12
Its just so weird, maybe this sounds silly but she was fine enough to go pick up the dog from the vet and bring him into the house, yet she died soon after coming home?

In the ( I don’t know how recent) picture I saw posted of him and his wife Gene looked *very* frail.
