Turkey, with the second largest army in NATO after the United States, could contribute to a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, a Turkish defence ministry source said on Wednesday.
"The issue of contributing to a mission will be considered if deemed necessary for establishing regional stability and peace, and will be assessed mutually with all relevant parties," the source told reporters in Ankara.

Turkish media reported last week that President Tayyip Erdogan had discussed a possible deployment with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during separate meetings in Ankara last month.
Turkey has maintained cordial relations with both Russia and Ukraine throughout their war, though it is historically a rival of Moscow, backing forces who defeated Russia's allies in Syria and Azerbaijan since 2023.
Turkey has refrained from joining Western sanctions against Russia and has mediated past agreements between Kyiv and Moscow, such as a deal to allow Ukrainian exports of grain from the Black Sea.

“Rrhoiders sez”
And there it is!
Dear Turkey: How about helping to get some peace before you start talking about sending peacekeeping enforcement forces?
Ready to sent troops to occupy Crimea
Like they’ve “occupied” Northern Cyprus.
That’s the biggest issue I have with Trump’s approach, he’s going to play nice with the Turks.
“Yes, we would love to conquer southern Europe and besiege Vienna.”
I want the war to be ended, but logistically, it would have made more sense for Turkey to be sending troops to the Ukraine than for North Korea to have sent its units of starving, untrained citizens.
And millions of Muslims throughout Europe will be on the Turks’ side.
Quite a bit different than the headline which says "Turkey ready to send troops to Ukraine if necessary."
The strategy of headlines is often to sway those who don't read beneath them.
Muslim men will repopulate YouCraynee.
In a couple decades YouCraynee will look like London.
I took flack yesterday for suggesting Russia is diminished. Would Turkey do this if Russia’s at full strength? Russia agreed to attack Japan 100 days after Germany surrendered(WW2). They waited 100 days exactly. This was 2-3 days after the 2 big ones were dropped.
Turkey is interesting. We get bases and they hate Israel. Is Russia worried? Can they count on the Chicoms?
Ottoman’s back?
As a rule of thumb, I'd say we all are "diminished" these days. Our nation's massive debt diminished us, and of course the corruption of the Democrats diminish this nation as well. Russia is losing men and materiel. Ukraine is also, massively. Europe is losing, as one watches their green idiocy and slow-motion de-industrialization. Lots to go around. Your assertion that Russia is diminished by war seems quite a fine view. True for so many now. This is why President Trump's urge to end this mess is apt.
Will they be part of the Russian, Ottoman, or EuroWeenie empire? What shall it be?
Turkey has been waiting for Russia to weaken. Then they’ll leave NATO and replace Russia as the new “baddie”.
