Still remember the days of being told, "eat your oatmeal there are starving people in China".

I know that with % the US is still the most obese country, but it seems that China and India are catching up.

“eat your oatmeal there are starving people in China”

My mom always used Africa.

I’d slide her my plate and say “Send it to them”

1) We need to panic because there are too many people on the planet.
2) We need to panic because of the demographic collapse: we just don’t have enough people.

3) Poor people are starving all over the world.
4) Poor people are fat all over the world.

Maybe we should stop seeing everything as a “crisis”.

That’s because everyone is working from home, right next to the refrigerator.

It seems to be on the rise. I didn’t notice it so much in the 80s. In last few decades it has jumped upwards.

I know I struggle with weight and weigh myself every day and at least attempt to keep it down to reasonable levels. Not easy in this fast society in which we live.

Modern kids are told to take their diet pills because even the people in China are getting fat.

And yet skinny, tight-fitting men’s suits which look horrible except on the most athletic builds are still in fashion.

Will that extra weight at the surface of the erf slow down its rotation?

" . . . and the U.S. (214 million) . . . "

If we don't include babies and children under five, that is more than two-thirds of the population. My anecdotal experience tends to support the idea that obesity is widespread, but nearly 70% of the country is even more than I expected.

When I was a kid in the 80s, there was one fat kid in my class. Just one. He was known as the fat kid, and got made fun of quite a bit. If you look at a class of kids today, probably half of them are fat. You can’t blame kids for overeating, they just don’t know any better, you gotta blame the parents for not instilling good eating habits in their kids. And these bad eating habits persist and the fat kids just become fat adults. I don’t know why everyone is so fat, I think it’s a combination of several factors: Food is cheaper (relative to income) than it’s ever been, available in greater variety than ever before, and apps that let you order it so easily aren’t helping. I think there’s also a general apathy, people no longer care if they look like fat slobs, or just slobs in general for that matter, people used to put on nice clothes every time they left the house, now you walk into walmart and see people in pajamas.

As they adopt a western diet and abandon their own native diets, that will happen.

I’ve heard that obesity and diabetes rates among Native American tribes and groups like the Hawaiian Islanders gain a lot of weight and develop these health issues with what I have heard called “SAD - Standard American Diet”.

Really? After locking people in their homes, having to order comfort food and alcohol laced with MSG, HFC, GMO, mRNA, etc. with little outside activities... who would have thought! How much does Ozemic cost?

I was dragged to a charity ball of very upper middle class people Saturday. Parking lot was solid Range Rovers and Mercedes with BMWs for the poor folk.

Mainly youngish crowd late 20s to 30s. Probably 80% of the people were fat.

People there who were 40 to 60 were generally very fit and athletic.

Typically the country club set is the least obese as a group.

I found it very curious. Something is off.

Then, they poisoned our oats.

The chemicals in grains are causing this obesity problem.

The poisoned grains are then mixed with inflammatory seed oils, to make your processed foods.

Cut out the grains, sugars and processed foods!
