Globalists, 1787
Vanity | 3/03/2025 | buwaya

Globalism, 18th century style. This was extremely common at the time, in the cultural sphere.

"Don Giovanni", Mozarts' opera, opened in Prague, Bohemia in 1787. Mozart was a Austro-German, his librettist Da Ponte was a Venetian-Italian ex Jew and ex-priest. All sung in Italian by an international cast, none, I think, were Czechs/Bohemians. "Don Giovanni" is based on a Spanish legend, that became a Spanish play in verse (think Shakespeare) by Tirso de Molina, which was ripped off by the French playwright Moliere (and others). All produced with permission and tacit support by the Holy Roman Emperor Joseph II.

"Don Giovanni was quite "racy" for the time btw.

Romantic nationalism, 19th century style.

"Rusalka" by Dvorak opened in Prague in 1901. Every last thing about it, and every person involved, was Czech.

A pretty good example of how culture leads politics. And how "globalists" and globalism are ... OLD hat. And how, and maybe why, every last ethnic polity in Europe (and elsewhere) came to desire independence.

We are often called on to think about LARGE topics. Like why we are what we are. Or what we think we are. Quite often one has to look where its not obvious. Some are more so, like with Verdi and Italian nationalism - It doesn't take much to figure the propaganda message in "Nabucco" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VejTwFjwVI ...more Romantic nationalism.

Globalism in 1787 might more accurately be described as Pan-Europeanism.

The “globalists” of 18th century Europe were nearly all aristocrats who ran one of the most pernicious forms of government Emmett ever devised, serfdom. They ruled with an iron fist then and would like to do so now. Our new aspirants for a modern day aristocracy want to “take of us” by silencing, subjugating and enslaving us. The want us sitting in the cold and dark in whatever hovels they allow in their 15 minute ghettos.

For those that don't know buwaya he is a globalist communist. Here's what he wrote about the constitution a few days ago.

He commented, and I quote, “The US simply wasn't significant to world history until it became the leading technological player. All the words generated in the US, the constitution, the declaration of independence, all the law libraries, which Americans like to worship, are futile superstitions. Merest words.”

That French lawyer Robespierre was an elitest too.
He eventually perished in the climate of inquisition and brutalized suspicion that he himself helped to create.
That’s one World History lesson I have never forgotten.

“communist”?
Whatever man.

Technological Determinism is the idea that tech change drives everything, we are just along for the ride, and we spend most of our efforts at dealing with the fallout. Our agency is limited.

“Globalism in 1787 might more accurately be described as Pan-Europeanism.”

True, contacts and influence only went so far back then.
But even Mozart went further, to the degree he could - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U_3pv8hpWI
Imagine THAT for a modern film theme. The mind boggles.

Imagine a “modernized” Mozart, able to draw on the whole world, music, themes and talent. And down the road, some did.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHKUt5fDbH0 But Philip Glass isn’t Mozart.

Goes back MUCH farther than that.

Nug, son of Ug, of mountain clan people wanted to marry she-Nog, daughter of Nog of the famous Og valley people.

Much fighting ensued.

Such was multiculturalism circa 25,000 BC in Ruhr Valley, what would become known as Germania and, later, another province of greater global islamic caliphate.

“Haakon Jarl was a Viking warrior who ruled Norway from 975-995. He earned the title “Hakon the Powerful.”
So naturally, Netflix made him a black woman.“

I understand Boudicca’s life story is next to be melaninized.

Bigots with an unearned superiority complex are the reason I put redneck in my handle. You leftist dweebs cannot help but expose yourselves in an argument.

For someone who is just a redneck I predicted the outcome of this war while you did not. I pointed out the evil rot of Europe that is now dropping its mask while you did not. You are just a name calling idiot leftist.
