LOS ANGELES -- The 2025 Oscars are officially here.
Conan O'Brien is hosting the 97th Academy Awards, which honor the best in cinema from the past year.
"Emilia Pérez" leads the field of nominees this year with 13 total Oscar nominations, just one shy of tying the record for most nominations by a single film held by "All About Eve," "Titanic" and "La La Land."
"The Brutalist" and "Wicked" follow closely behind with 10 nominations each, while "A Complete Unknown" and "Conclave" round out the top-nominated films with eight nods apiece.
This year's show will honor the city of Los Angeles, showcasing its resilience in the wake of the wildfires that left at least 29 dead and destroyed thousands of homes.
The Oscars ceremony is live on ABC now and is streaming live on Hulu for the first time.
Follow along below with updates throughout the night, and check out all coverage of the 2025 Oscars here.
Well Bob I’ll tell ya,
I have not been to a movie in 30 years.
I have not heard of any of these movies that are nominated.
I don’t know who these people are who are nominated.
I think I’ve heard of Demi Moore but that’s it.
These people are nauseous and narcissists.
I have to rearrange my sock drawer. So I don’t have time to watch this dreck.
What kind of dresses are everyone wearing? Who dresses like that in public? Hollywood has not had an original idea in thirty years.
I hope this passes muster with what the rules for this thread are.
It says much of the state of Hollywood that a film with a 16% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes has 13 Oscar nominations.
Anyhow, probably not gonna watch it. I haven't seen ANY of the nominated films! Rooting for Demi Moore though.
I hope it sweeps the awards.
The wifey and I went to see the shorts. The Iran animated film was weird. But, it was interesting. Of the 5, it was 4th on my list.
That was a “gimme gift” to Iran.
Of the live action films, my favorite was the one in Africa, the story of a young girl who became a game preserve ranger. I hope it wins. The “I’m Not a Robot” was interesting too.
Of the Best Picture nominees, I’ve seen 5: Wicked, Anora, The Substance, The Complete Unknown, and Dune.
I loved Dune the most. But the Dylan movie was really good too. Timothy should win something tonight!
Resting after working all day changing wheels from an old car to a more recent one just purchased,
Wow, what bizarre outfits......
Is Charo there?
Is the person in Black Trans or what?
Release the full Eptstein files tonight. I can dream.
They're hoping to finish before midnight
Epstein
Oh good; another show I will not be watching.
Do they have these award shows on every week or something?
Sorry i will be waxing my nutsack
Anora was like going to a strip club without spending big money or having any chance at getting syphilis
SE Mom, that’s a fair cop.
For me, so far the only people I recognized are Conan, John Lithgow, Goldie Hawn, and Amy Pohler.
LOL, well, such self care is more important than the Oscars.........
This would be kinda funny, even more so if Hollywood icon and 45-year film veteran Demi Moore loses to a dude in a dress.
Haven’t watched them in 20 years
I would like to see Demi Moore win the Best Actress Award...Movie is “The Substance”...I actually watched that movie...She is 62 years old...In that film, Moore was in many nude scenes...By the way, Dennis Quaid was in “The Substance”...He played a nasty TV show producer...
No, transgender guy will not win the Best Actress Award...Because of his social media messages about Muslims...
