It is more important to be functional than long lived.
Even younger rats taking to gymnastics:

Many older folks die on the pot after straining to go #2. This can cause the heart to fail or seizures. Learned this from several nurses.

You need to exercise all the body parts you want to keep.

I have had numerous medical issues but do my best to stay in shape.

Medicine is advancing, so is pharmacology. We live in a country where people have heat and AC, filtered air, tap water is drinking grade everywhere, the FDA and local code compliance is strict with food quality, storage, transportation and preparation standards. The EPA is strict with environmental, and OSHA is strict with safety standards, and yet people are dying younger.
IMHO: Obesity and a sedentary lifestyle.
At 81 I’m still playing Rec basketball twice a week during the school year and outdoors usually three times a week during the summer. When I’m asked about it, my reply is “God has been better to me than I deserve”.
Those 50 and 60 year old kids are killing me, though. Not to mention the occasional 30 something.
