...The US had previously only confirmed killing 100 or so pro-Syrian regime forces, but multiple outlets reported the number was as high as 300 and that the soldiers were Russian military contractors.
The February battle was reportedly incredibly one-sided, as a massive column of mostly-Russian pro-Syrian regime forces approached an established US position in Syria and fired on the location.
The US responded with a massive wave of airstrikes that crippled the force before it could retreat, and then cleaned up the remaining combatants with strafing runs from Apache helicopters.
Phone calls intercepted by a US-funded news organization allegedly captured Russian military contractors detailing the humiliating defeat. "We got our f--- asses beat rough, my men called me ... They're there drinking now ... many have gone missing ... it's a total f--- up," one Russian paramilitary chief said, according to Polygraph.info, the US-funded fact-checking website.

This is why our unofficial national motto is
F.A.F.O.
They were destroyed. Few survived.
Wagner group is mercenary's, not Russian military.
It happened crossing the river from south, near Der Ezzor, Syria. They were warned, did not respond.
That is actually worse since the Russian’s reliable heavily on their contractors to stiff their conscript units spines. Russian contractors are suppose to be better, not worse, their their front line troops.
“As the afternoon sun began to sink over the cradle of civilization on Feb. 7, 2018, a group of US Marines and Army Special Forces soldiers watched surveillance drone feeds in disbelief as a large enemy force amassed 20 miles away near the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. The combined group of Syrian forces and Russian mercenaries from the infamous Kremlin-linked Wagner Group swelled to an estimated 500 troops by early evening.”

(I remember when it happened. I followed the Kurds (YPG/YPJ SDF) every day for years.)
I remember President Trump talking before and after. He warned them. They either did not listen, did not believe, or perhaps, did not care. To Commies, and so-called ex-commies, people are just commodities.
The movie will be awesome.
The U.S. conferred with Russia and Russia turned off their S-400 surface-to-air missiles, otherwise we might have lost some men and equipment.
This was one of those instances years ago where the Rooskis FAFOed, even after good faith attempts to avoid it.
Our command was in direct contact with their Russian counterparts who emphatically and repeatedly said Russia has no troops in the area. Only after that did our forces go weapons free.

It was a historically bad move by the mercenaries. The US guys observed the preparations for days and had all assets ready.
This was known years ago.
What’s your reason for posting this?
Afraid to say what you want to say about today’s events?
We’re not groupthink here.
Don’t be so afraid :)
That was a shameful moment. Wagner and Syrian Army were moving in Syria. They did not “attack American positions” as is popularly told. They fired on a rebel group that unbeknownst to them, had a handful of US soldiers we embedded.
Syrian Army and Wagner was fighting ISIS.
We killed hundreds of white Christians who were fighting ISIS and rebels. In effect, the USAF was flying top cover for ISIS.
Nothing enraged our military back then like the Russian killing ISIS. We were always chest bumping them when they bombed them.
It was a shameful day.
approached an established US position in Syria and fired on the location.
That’s a lie. It was a rebel position, but it was OUR rebels and we had a SF team embedded. SO we pretended it was an attack on Americans.
Gotta be an agreement beforehand. Right? Contractors-all bets are off.
There is an element here that so badly wants to kill Russians. Bottom line, Russians were there to help save the Syrian government from the ISIS/FSA and other rebels we created and funded.
We attacked the Syrian army more than we did ISIS... who has just taken the whole country, fulfilling our CIA’s goal.
If a foreign nation bombed Blackwater, we would be apoplectic.
But the agreement should have been pro-forma and easy, after all, we were both going after ISIS supposedly, right? That’s why we were always locking on to and harassing Russian planes bombing rebels, bombing Syrian airfields, etc.
Notice the CIA rushed to have their rebels launch the final assault on Syria when they realized Trump had won.
Lies lies lies.
