ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – As the FBI continues its investigation into the Albuquerque Police Department’s DWI Unit, now also including the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico State Police, KRQE News 13 has looked into the first person to plead guilty to charges related to the case.
With cases at both the state and federal levels, court records show Ricardo Mendez’s criminal history dates back to 1990 and includes representation by his boss, attorney Thomas Clear III. He was arrested for DWIs and drug possession but wasn’t always found guilty.
Mendez is a convicted felon though and according to court records, he arrived at the Albuquerque International Sunport in 1993 with two suitcases. Albuquerque police’s K9 sniffed out more than 60 pounds of marijuana between the two of them. He spent 18 months on probation.

Don't ask how I know but this guy Mendez? He is facing 80 years in prison and recently the feds gave him permission to leave the country. Yet the people given false DUI's couldn't.
When I lived in Albuquerque someone shot an arrow at me as I was driving home from work late one night, the arrow just missed coming in the driver’s side window and I wanted to find it and add it to my collection of sheath knives, the problem was that I couldn’t see what was in the shadows that the arrow came from, so I couldn’t get out to search for the arrow, I did stop at a pay phone to let the cops know there was a bow and arrow sniper on that street though.
I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to earth, I knew not where; I lose more damn arrows that way.
As far as this Albuquerque stuff goes, my impression is that the state of New Mexico is high on the corruption scale, at all levels, including election politics.
New Mexico is almost like not a real state, the way Americans think of a state, it has a Mexico type, sloppy indifference.
We visited NM for the first time last fall. Some guy said “NM is where bad things happen.”

For some reason that made me think of when I was hit by a golf sniper. I was in the passenger seat with a co-worker at a convention in Florida. He had a rented convertible. As we left the convention, which was at a gold club doing about 35 mph, I saw a brief flash of white and felt a fairly intense pain on my right shoulder. I got hit by a golf ball. One more reason to not play golf. It can kill you.
You should see the homes on the edges of golf courses, some of them are at risk.
I'm sorry that was me, I did yell four, I guess you didn't hear it.
I hope you got your golf ball back. It bounced pretty far after it hit me.
