Ron DeSantis Announces Andrew Tate is Not Welcome in the State of Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis drew a sharp turn away from the Trump administration Thursday by announcing that controversial online figures Andrew Tate and his brother Tristen are not welcome in Florida. A spokesperson said the brothers landed in Fort Lauderdale earlier on Thursday.

DeSantis’s comments come in stark contrast to the Trump administration’s position after reports surfaced that the decision to let the brothers leave Romania was a result of President Donald Trump’s special envoy Richard Grenell who raised their case during a hallway exchange with Romanian Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu at the Munich Security Conference earlier this month.

As news broke, conservatives highlighted the Trump administration’s alleged involvement and warned against embracing the brothers.

“We have no involvement in that,” DeSantis said during a press conference. “I read about it through the media. Clearly, the federal government has jurisdiction. Whether they want to rebuff his entry into the United States, and I have confidence that — whether it’s Pam Bondi or Kristi Noem — that they will be looking at that.”

“I do know our attorney general, James Uthmeier, is looking at what state and jurisdiction we may have to be able to deal with this. But the reality is, is no, Florida is not a place where we’re where you’re welcome with that with us — that type of conduct. I’m in the air, and I don’t know how it came to this. We were not involved. We were not notified. I found out through the media that this was something that was happening.“

AP provided context on the Tate’s controversial arrival in the United States, reporting:

The Tates — who are dual U.S.-British citizens and have millions of online followers — were arrested in late 2022 and formally indicted last year on charges they participated in a criminal ring that lured women to Romania, where they were sexually exploited. Andrew Tate was also charged with rape. They deny the allegations.

In December, a court ruled that the case couldn’t go to trial because of multiple legal and procedural irregularities on the part of the prosecutors. The case, however, remained open, and there is also another ongoing investigation against them in Romania.

Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, said in a statement Thursday that prosecutors approved a request to change the travel restrictions on the Tates, but didn’t say who made the request.

By his own admission, Tate is a pimp and a scam artist.

Andrew Tate says women belong in the home, can’t drive, and are a man’s property.

He also thinks rape victims must bear responsibility for their attacks and has frequently said that any insubordination by a woman warrants a violent reaction (including the one time he said he'd use a machete on a girlfriend that talked back!)

That said, he hasn't been convicted of anything. It's curious that Romania let him walk, but we don't know the facts. I doubt that the release would have taken place without American arm-twisting. I would appreciate clarification from Grenell on that.

As to being welcome in Florida, our governor has no say any more than he decide if rap artists are welcome here.

Don’t get me wrong, but if these brothers are free U.S. citizens, then Desantis is acting woke and should keep out of it! He is just pissed that President Trump is not endorsing his wife as next governor.

Who else has Ron made similar comments about?

Any hard core Muslim revolutionaries?

How about treasonous former Biden officials?

Selective virtue signaling just makes anyone out to be a fool.

Hey Ron, this makes you sound like a dictator. If they are entering legally, they can go where they wish to go.

May sound silly but Ive NEVER heard of these guys..but if they did what they are accused of doing why would Grenell want them back here, unless they are going to be charged here in the US

Let’s hear Ron DeSantis publicly state that Disney molesters aren’t welcome in Florida.

WHAT has this got to do with the office of governor? Is this Tate character somehow a direct threat to the public safety of Florida? Has he committed a crime in Florida?

If not, then WHY would Desantis want to get involved in something like this, except for political grandstanding?

American politicians are SO infected by the progressive / central-planning mindset, they still suffer from it, in ways they don’t even realize.

According to an earlier article, they have not let him walk, he had just been released temporarily and has a scheduled Court appearance there next month.

Yes!

This is simple virtue signaling and brand management by DeSantis.

He wants to keep his name out front and center for 2028 and also, somehow, show how he is better than President Trump.

There was no real value in this action by him.

Agree, Ron should have just ignored it unless he wanted to tell all the other riff raff in that state they aren’t welcome. 🤡🤡

Nobody even knew they were already here. LOL

Trump has more important issues to deal with than the Tates. These are the mistakes DeSantis always makes.

From what I know of Tate, if the allegations are true, he is sleaze. And the one social media post I saw apparently from him was foul.

Some Freepers love it when the left wing media jerks conservatives trying to split us up.

Wiki

MSNBC and NBC News
After leaving Court TV, Abrams was a general assignment correspondent for NBC News from 1997 to 1999 when he was named Chief Legal Correspondent.[18] Abrams then began hosting his own show at MSNBC, and The Abrams Report began in 2001.[19][20] Abrams hosted The Abrams Report until he accepted a managerial position at MSNBC.[21] Abrams held the position of General Manager of MSNBC from June 12, 2006, until October 2007.[22] He left to concentrate on his program Live with Dan Abrams, which replaced Scarborough Country due to Joe Scarborough’s move to mornings. This show would eventually be revamped and renamed Verdict with Dan Abrams,[23] which aired until August 21, 2008. MSNBC announced on August 19, 2008, that Air America Radio host Rachel Maddow would take over that time slot beginning September 8, 2008,[24] and Abrams became a substitute anchor on the Today show. Shortly thereafter Abrams launched his own media company consisting of Mediaite and other sites.[25]

Don’t get gaslit by fake news headlines. First of all he didn’t make an announcement, he was answering a reporter’s question. Secondly he didn’t even say they weren’t welcome, he said the type of conduct(that they’ve been accused of) isn’t welcome in Florida.
