The first measles death has been reported in West Texas amid the outbreak that has infected more than 100 people, Associated Press reported on Wednesday morning.

Melissa Whitfield, a spokesperson for Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center confirmed the death to AP. The patient's identity and age were not shared.

Covenant Children’s Hospital in Lubbock did not immediately respond to a request for comment from AP. As of Tuesday, the Texas outbreak had affected 124 people across nine counties, according to a statement from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

Cases have also been spreading to New Mexico, with a total of nine confirmed in that state so far.

The DSHS first confirmed the outbreak on Feb. 5. The agency added that the best way to prevent sickness is to receive two doses of the vaccine against measles, "primarily administered" as the combination measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) immunization. This is a developing story.

Schumkey Schumer needs to hold up the death certificate with the can of Corona and the avocado and show it to the American people. We had done away with measles and a lot of crap and of “avocado pickers” are bringing all the crap back. They put food on that old Non-American Indian bag, Pramilla Jayapal’s, table.

They are going to blame this on “anti-vaxx” people, when the real cause is open borders.

We get these measles outbreaks all the time..what the left doesn’t want to mention as the main reason why is because we import illegals who are NOT vaccinated in to this country(remember, the left doesn’t demand they get vaccinated!) and they spread it around..happened here in SoCal a few yrs back, someone from Venezuela came here infected with measles went to a few malls, a gamestop and other locations the media put out a bulletin

RFK Jr. at Trump’s first cabinet meeting just said they’re quarantining people with severe measles in Texas to prevent the spread.

Brought to you by the progressive, democrat party, and their open borders policy. Illegal aliens do not have to be vaccinated.

It is a shame that we invite this stuff into our country.

I had measles when I was a young kid. I was about three or four and I remember it. My brother lost hearing in one ear due to measles. Measles was kind of a big deal in my home growing up.

It is not something you want to mess with.

I know a lot of folks don’t like vaccines. But eradicating childhood disease is usually a good idea. But once you are exposed….there isn’t much you can do about it.

1 in 10 require hospitalization. Anyone want to guess who pays for that? (Rhetorical question.)

Anytime the vax rate for measles is below 85%, outbreaks occur. Every time, illegals or not. It’s a fact.

You leave out that it is Americans who are sick with measles. So if Americans are vaccinated how are they getting the measles then? Because a larger and growing set of Americans are not getting vaccinated to what was a killer in the past. Immunity doesn’t last forever adults need boosters too. This was a child who died mish likely given it was a children’s hospital and the unvaccinated kids are Mennonites because of religious objections. Allowing unvaccinated Americans to travel can just as easily bring back virus from around the world. There is a reason the WHO has the yellow book for tropical travel visas. You don’t let people enter area’s with dengue fever without the vaccine for it they could bring it home and establish a new endemic population in say Florida or south Texas.

Did the child have a measles vaccine?

Anytime you allow exemptions to mandatory vaccination campaigns you will get outbreaks among the unvaccinated, and some of the vaccinated too that are the 3-5% who immunity didn’t take. So the choice is force the 95% penetration rate by force of law and back it up with force of violence or accept periodic outbreaks. The right has chosen the latter given the rights propensity for religious zealotry as well.

“Did the child have a measles vaccine?”

The mathematical and scientific possibility of that is near zero. MMR historically is 90+ percent effective against infection and nearly 100% against hospitalization so no that child almost assuredly was unvaccinated.

This article doesn’t mention it but other articles I have seen mention that the child was unvaccinated.

Open borders is correct. There is no other reason.

What is different about measles these days? I must have had it two or three times as a child. I even remember parents bring their children over to pay in order for them to catch it.

The problem with the measles vax is that the recipient develops a low grade infection and sheds active measles virus that can infect other persons who have not be vaccinated. The "immigrants" are a large population of unvaccinated persons who lack the "herd immunity" to keep newly vaccinated shedding from spreading. There was a report of measles in the San Diego area traced to newly vaccinated "immigrants" visiting local attractions. The strain of measles was examined and found to be from the vaccination.

The downside of American medical practice in vaccinating our own children is the vaccinations are given in a multiple disease dose. Often 5 doses mixed at a single vaccination event. This is a bad approach because each dose of vaccine is laced with an "adjuvant" to promote the immune system to work on the new antigen. The recipient is overdosed with too much adjuvant. That likely the cause behind the rise of autism induced by vaccinations.

Again if you and your kid is vaccinated already you have zero worry about shedding that’s why you take the MMR in the first place. It’s not rocket science , if you are not vaccinated to MMR you are the only ones at risk of getting it. Especially after boosters into adulthood.
