Ndola is one of the most prominent towns in Zambia's Copperbelt province. Today, the numerous copper mines in the region provide the region's wealth. But in the past, a darker industry spurred the settlement.
Still standing near the center of town, the Slave Tree was the central location where Swahili slave traders met to discuss their gruesome transactions. Under its shade, Swahili traders such as Chipembere, Mwalabu, and Chiwala held councils of war and sold enslaved people to the Mambundu from Angola.
Much of central and southern Africa, including modern-day Zambia, was crisscrossed by slave traders transporting human captives to the Swahili coast to be sold to Arab slave traders. These traders would enslave people themselves or buy people who had been captured by warring local tribes.
Slavery was abolished in Zambia early in the 1900s, when the British Colonial Administration was established. The town of Ndola itself was founded in 1904 after the discovery of copper at the Bwana Mkubwa mine at the site of the slave trading post. The Slave Tree was left standing as a monument to the lives lost to the slave trade.
bullocks. slavery started with the founding of the US in 1619/sarc
Exports of African slaves from east Africa to the Caliphate began after Muslim Arab and Swahili traders won control of the Swahili Coast and sea routes during the 9th century .
The black people were called “Zanj” in Arabic and captured from the interior in the present-day lands of Kenya, Mozambique, and Tanzania and brought them to the coast.
Muslim merchants traded an estimated 1000 African slaves annually between 800 and 1700, a number that grew to thousands during the 18th century.
The estimate is that about 8 million black slaves were sent over the the centuries to the Caliphate.
That compares with the 9 million black slaves sent across the Sahara.
The court historians of the Deep State write out the inconvenient fact that whites from England, Scotland, and Ireland were slaves as well, men convicted of crimes or forced to go to the New World due to unpaid debts or rebellion against the Crown. Upon American independence, England used Australia as a dumping ground for convicts, debtors, and rebels.
Tell that to the Israelites.
True that. And don’t forget the 700K to 1.2 million white slaves captured by African slave raiders on the coasts of Europe and taken to the North African Barbary states.
well, technically they were whites captured as slaves by whites and for whites.
The north African emirates had earlier been part of the Phoenician, Greek and Roman world for millenia. They were and are genetically very similar to southern Europeans.
And many of the slave traders were Europeans who went to the Moorish side.
well, technically they were whites captured as slaves by whites and for whites.

Technically, they were Christians captured by Muslims who continue the slave trade to this day.
Keep in mind that they didn't do much chattel slavery like was done here. When a Muslim man raped his sex slaves and had babies, the babies were typically treated like his kids and, therefore, as Muslims they were free. When those babies grew up and became men, they too had sex slaves and repeated the process.
Another feature is that many slave owners were required to set their slaves free if the slave announced he/she was Muslim. That too lightened up the population (former Christian white slaves became average Berbers if they denounced Christ and embraced Islam).
So maybe towards the end of the Barbary slave trade, the Berbers where white as you say. But did they start out quite a bit darker? Perhaps not as dark as Sub-Saharan Africa, but probably darker than the blondes that Muhammad said made the best sex slaves.
Huh, ...Swahili traders such as Chipembere, Mwalabu, and Chiwala...Gee, those don’t sound like white christian names, but they must be? We all know only white people sold slaves, right? /sarc
If you google the subject, it’s now debated whether the number of slaves and the scope of the slave trade TODAY is the largest in world history. The Muslim Arab/African slave trade still continues, India has huge numbers of slaves from Nepal, etc., and slave trafficking has grown across Europe and the Americas. People think of slaves as always being in chains, but that’s not generally how it works, and thus people tend not to recognize slaves even when they run across them.
The nerve of all of those white men... no, wait.
Thanks Cronos.
I didn’t know Swahili’s were WHITE?!?!?!...........Learn sumptin’ new every day!..............
