The American student accused of throwing her newborn baby out of a hotel window to its death in Paris was on a school trip around Europe.
The newborn baby died after the tourist hurled the infant out of a hotel window moments after giving birth, local police report.
The 18-year-old was part of ‘a group of young people travelling in Europe’, according to the French authorities.
The teenage mother allegedly threw her baby from the second floor of an Ibis Styles hotel 'with the umbilical cord', authorities said.
Investigators in Paris believe the young woman was suffering from ‘pregnancy denial’ when she gave birth ‘unexpectedly’ at the budget hotel in the French capital.
The baby has been wrapped up in a sheet when it was discovered in the street of the city’s 20th arrondissement [district], not far from the historic Place de la Nation.
The new-born was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to the seriousness of her injuries.
The young mother was taken to the same hospital for treatment following childbirth.
Detectives arrested her at the clinic and charged with ‘child murder’, according to French authorities.
Emergency services took the baby to the Robert Debre hospital after witnesses reported the incident at around 6am on Monday.
The street was closed for more than five hours after the incident, sources told MailOnline.
The Paris prosecutor's office told Le Parisien that the child did not survive the fall and succumbed to injuries.

Even if it didn’t, it has child protective services that she could have turned the child over to.
How developed was the baby?
Gee, she sounds nice, and so selfless. /s
The ultimate “Ugly American”.
Ugly indeed! Hopefully she isn’t do,far gone that she can’t get herself right with God. Im,sure her lawyers are gonna argue it was post patum depression though, but given the accusations, it sounds more demon driven than mental defect driven
If a guy did this the comments would be far different. Everyone talking about adoption laws for the female who brutally murdered her own baby.
All you hypocrites would call for a guys head if he did this. None of you are consistent with your desires for justice if the g-d mother does it.
She’ll get a dime probably
She’s lucky this wasn’t in the US.
Not that it matters with a poor baby’s death..but how did she think she would get away with that?
she wasn’t thinking.
well..she thought long enough to commit a horror.
Exactly.
I hope they do, the French.
You don’t know that- I think folks would have made the same comments about giving the baby up to adoption instead of the father resorting to murder-
I do. I base it on years of observing posts here.
I will say she, at the minimum, is deserving of substantial prison time. If I were the French I’d refuse extradition.
There are things you just don’t do.
How many articles about fathers killing newborns have there been on fr? The only ones I can recall, have been mothers killing their offspring, Susan Smith, the woman in Florida, that drugged and killed her kid likely, and others where extreme torture and starvation wa involved by deranged mothers. In the latter threads, almost if both parents were involved, folks commented about both being guilty and what xhoukd be done- I just don’t recall threads about fathers being the newborn murderers?
She deserves execution.
You miss the point. Stop responding to me.
In France, you have a right to bear your baby anonymously, i.e., you needn’t give your name when delivering him or her.
It is called the „loi d‘accouchement sous x“, iirc, meaning, you could simply give your name as „Ms X“.
Lol whatever kid
There is no death penalty in France, or if there is, it is never used. But since the crime was committed there It must be punished there. She can’t be prosecuted in the US for a crime in France.
Prison is about all that can happen. Probably 10 to 15 years.
