It never fails. I go to vote and the question arises: shall we, or shall we not, retain this or that local judge.
How is any citizen to know? What criteria apply? Who has asked this or that judge to articulate and publish that which makes for an informed decision?
My purpose in writing here is to ask what you Freepers believe any judge should state publicly in terms of his/her qualifications.
What would you ask of a judge before you voted that he/she be retained?
For example: Is the Constitution a living, breathing document, or a text demanding adherence? Explain your answer.
I take this seriously and am intent on finding out where my local judges stand both fundamentally and in greater detail. A good judge will be happy to state his case. Right?
I almost always vote “no.” ESPECIALLY if it is a woman. Sorry, women.
My last ballot had 12 RAT judges running unopposed. Sickening really.
When judges run against each other for a seat on the bench, they usually sling mud at each other by pointing out each others unfavorable rulings on certain cases, and how they would rule differently.
Do you have names? Look up their names and see what you can find out about them. Even articles sometimes paint a picture of what they believe.
We need to have an informed basis that reaches out and solicits the judge in his/her own words.
To to that, we need are good questions to ask that ferret out unconstitutional fealties.
This has been one of my big complaints since stuff started being posted on the internet, why doesn’t the GOP post some info on the judge races and a few of the others that no one knows anything about.
No apologies necessary. I almost always vote NO, too.
I look at who gets to replace vacant judgesuips. Are they r or d?
“”””Look up their names and see what you can find out about them. Even articles sometimes paint a picture of what they believe.””””
I’ve done that and occasionally find something to go on for 1 or 2 judges, but we need better.
I always vote no on any retention votes.
I try to do research to inform my votes for local justices.
When in doubt I vote against the incumbant.
First, don’t vote for female judges. We have enough of them.
In my communist state you almost can’t go wrong voting aginst the incumbent
I used to vote NO always, but recently I consider who might be appointing replacements.
Here’s my premise and question: What does an interested citizen look for? What does he ask?
“Are you an originalist vs.penumbralist?” for example.
Or pose a case scenario and ask how and why they would rule.
“How do you explain the difference between judging and legislating?”
I don’t know. Just looking for interested expertise, but dammit, any judge on my ballot from now on is gonna hear some questions.
The best way is to ask the democrat poll worker for the voting guide then vote for the other one.
Some states don’t even require the vermin publish their political party.
