"Zelensky is elected head of state... No one should claim otherwise"

... While Scholz didn’t call out the U.S. leader by name, there’s no doubt who he was slapping down when he said: “Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the elected head of the state of Ukraine. The inability to hold regular elections in the midst of war is in line with the Ukrainian constitution and electoral laws. No one should claim otherwise.”

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has had almost nothing but warm words for Trump since he reentered the White House, to try to keep the so-called special relationship alive.

But Ukraine is something of a red line. Starmer called Zelenskyy on Wednesday night, and according to a readout released by Downing Street told the Ukrainian president that he supports him “as Ukraine’s democratically elected leader and said that it was perfectly reasonable to suspend elections during war time as the U.K. did during World War II.”

In an olive branch to Trump, the No. 10 statement said Starmer “reiterated his support for the U.S.-led efforts to get a lasting peace in Ukraine that deterred Russia from any future aggression.”

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, who has clashed with Trump over his insistent warnings he could acquire the Danish territory of Greenland, said she didn’t understand the U.S. president’s “attack” on Zelenskyy, local media reported. “Zelenskyy is a democratically elected and otherwise unusually capable political leader in Europe,” Frederiksen was quoted as saying.

This is from Germany's Scholz

The "Euro-Weenies" as hardspunned calls them (lol) have really picked their side with Ukraine and Zelensky.

It's crazy.

But as Jim said last night let them pay for all this. They won't and that is the issue.

The SPAMMERS are still hard at work here, pushing the USAID line, which is now the ANTI-TRUMP line.

I’m beginning to think they want to get Zotted.

When someone in the single digits for approval level denies the citizenry a regular election, he is, indeed, a dictator.

He may have been elected, but once he cancelled elections and overstayed his term he became the de facto dick taster of Ukraine.

Reminds me of the deep state backing Robert Mueller. “Unusually capable”, “Impeccable integrity” blah blah..

I watched Scholz in an interview a few days ago. He said Germany cannot cut any other programs to help Ukraine, and is struggling to devote 2% yo Germany’s defense budget.

You may recall Germany is the country that prevented advanced weapons to Ukraine, and kept taking Russian natural gas.

This is just aimed at undermining Trump. Germany is weak on Russia and not a serious supporter of Ukraine.

This is also more about trying to restrain the German right wing political party.

He WAS the elected HoS.... his term has expired and he refuses to allow new elections. That, by definition, is a dictator.

The Soviets/Russians did it, Hitler did it, etc.

If the EU comes up with the money, President Trump would sell them the weapons. It’s a win-win-win situation.

Ukraine gets their weapons
The EU keeps the war going
The US reduces their trade deficit with Europe.

The EU is the world’s 2nd largest economy. They can pony up the money

Afghanistan held multiple elections during its US led war with the Taliban.

Syria, Liberia and Columbia have all held elections during civil conflicts in the last twenty years.

Why is Ukraine any different?

---- "This is just aimed at undermining Trump. Germany is weak on Russia and not a serious supporter of Ukraine. This is also more about trying to restrain the German right wing political party."

From the German press which we read from time to time, the above is wholly accurate.

Leaving Ukraine as an issue aside, what is being seen in Europe is a push for "more Europe," which means less sovereignty for those "member states" as von der Leyen and the EU continue to consolidate control. Not only in Germany but throughout the EU, conservative voices are irritating the entrenched elite. Scholz, now a very temporary figure, is just a mouthpiece for his masters. "More Europe" means less for its members, and President Trump and Vice-President Vance are providing support for European conservatives which the corrupt atop the EU see as a very real threat. To them.

Would gazans re-elect hamass after the destructive war that they started?

Would Ukrainians re-elect Zelenskyy after the destructive war he refuses to negotiate an end?

We don’t know, because both cancelled subsequent elections.

What do you call them now?

I don’t calll them “Democratically Elected” any more.

Kier.

Trump should tell Zelensky that if he has a problem he should call Hunter Biden to fix it.

The question I have is: why are they still here?

The group they rival in FR history imho are the Crevo tards from about 20 years ago. At least most of that lot self deported, although it took a couple of zots to get that ball rolling.
I saw that other thread that linked to their oryx circle jerk, and a few of them seem to be as anti American as your typical DU or Reddit slug.

Lincoln elections presidential and congressional
Wilson congressional elections
Roosevelt presidential and congressional elections
Johnson presidential and congressional elections
Nixon presidential and congressional elections
Bush presidential and congressional elections
Obama presidential and congressional elections
Trump presidential and congressional elections

Seeing a pattern here Mr Zelensky.

Bob - you seem to be jumbling words together.

What, in your head, does the “USAID line” consist of with regards to Ukraine?

And perhaps you don’t realize it, but the pro-Trumpers are anti-USAID and also split between those who support Ukraine, those who don’t and those who say “meh”

Well, his term ended in May 2024.

So that’s less than a year away - I would call him an interim President until May 2025, then dictator would be more appropriate.

Putin has ruled Russia for 25 years by the by

Listen to nothing this putz says. He will be gone in two weeks. He’s irrelevant.

Did you see this? I’ve seen it reported enough that I believe there’s something to it. Eisenhower said in 1950 if NATO was still in business in 1960, it would have been a failure. Ike also promoted a buffer of neutral states (ex Warsaw Pact) in Eastern Europe because the U.S. could not afford such a massive expense long term.
What if the reset involves upholding the 1991 NATO promise of “not one inch east”? This is from the Financial Times or some other Euroweenie rag.

“Trump clearly intends to cut a deal on Ukraine with Putin over the heads of Zelenskyy and the Europeans. That could have tragic consequences for Ukraine, which may soon be asked to accept loss of territory without security guarantees for the future. The alternative would be to try to fight on without American help.
The implications for the rest of Europe are also alarming. Putin wants Nato troops removed from the whole of the former Soviet empire. European officials believe Trump is likely to agree to withdraw US troops from the Baltics and perhaps further west, leaving the EU vulnerable to a Russian army that Nato governments warn is preparing for a larger conflict beyond Ukraine.“
