Giving birth can be one of the toughest times in a woman's life. But tonight the ministry of Justice is urgently looking into concerns raised by Channel 4 News that women at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey have been shackled and restrained while in labour - at times by male prison officers.
There are now calls for an independent inquiry into why this breach of both personal dignity and clear Government policy was allowed to happen. One woman told us she was left 'mentally tortured' by her ordeal two years ago.

How much harm is a woman in the midst of labor going to do?

I thought this was a story from America. Every so often, I hear about this happening to a pregnant inmate.
How dangerous can these Gals be at this particular moment?
Just make sure she is not sneaking some kind of weapon or tool on or within her person, on or within any of her clothing brought with her. Don’t have any male prison guards doing these searches.
The woman in the report claims there are many other cases and it’s being covered up.
Agree... and I’ve been in labor many times.
My issue is why male prison guards are in the delivery room??

How does one get pregnant taking it up the butt?
Are they not criminals at that point?
If they are, then they wear cuffs.
OR don’t break the law.
I would like to hear the other side of the story.
There are some severely mentally deranged women in prison.
Did they make threats they would kill the child as soon as possible, for example?
Did they threaten to harm doctors and nurses?
The lack of particulars, and one sided reporting show the need for more information.
It sounds barbaric, but this is a country that has allowed Islamist invaders to gang-rape their children with impunity, and jail you for complaining. I guess nothing would surprise me anymore.

A man was released from the prison in Quincy Florida and hours later murdered a complete stranger. I frequently worked out with a guard there and he told me the staff was ordered to, in no circumstance, turn back on him. He was a psychopath who would use any opportunity to kill a guard. This may be something similar.
Oh, the reason they let the guy out? He’d finished serving his time.
The lady from the Prison Reform Trust (a charity) says no pregnant woman belongs in prison
