Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is conducting his own investigation into the Texas Lottery.
This comes after a winning $83.5 million lottery ticket was bought at a retail store in North Austin.
What we know: The lucky winner matched all six numbers in Monday's Lotto Texas drawing; 19, 21, 25, 45, 47, 52.
The winning ticket was sold at the Winners Corner TX LLC store on Rockwood Lane.
The winner picked their own numbers and chose the cash option.

The estimated $83.5 million jackpot was the fifth-largest in the history of Lotto Texas.
The prize has been growing since June 2024.
This is not the first time someone walked away a winner after buying a ticket at the Winners Corner TX LLC store on Rockwood Lane.
The store has been on top for the number of winning tickets sold, including in December 2024 when someone bought a winning lottery ticket of $2 million.
In March 2021, a Texas Two-Step ticket sold there also won. It was worth more than $2 million as well.
The business is considered a lottery courier, which allows Texans to buy tickets online, then a courier will send a representative to physically purchase the ticket in person at one of the lottery retailers.
Although many question the ethics and legality of how these lotto companies work, the most recent win was concerning to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
On Tuesday, Patrick went to investigate Winner's Corner in person.

"Recently, there have been many questions raised about the integrity of the Texas Lottery. Last night, an $83 million winning ticket was sold in Austin. Turns out, the retail establishment that sold the winning ticket in the front of the store was owned by the courier service that purchased the ticket behind the wall in the back of the store. I decided to go out and investigate for myself."

IOW: They bought the ticket after the numbers were announced
Things that make you go hmmmmm.
Well, it’s easier that way and it’s too hard to make a time machine and go back in time (I know, I tried).
Someone mastered AI? very strange indeed.
Money laundering.
That’s because I made a time machine and went back in time and sabotaged your time machine.
Texas lotto should be suspended pending investigation.
They bought all known combinations and profited more than what they had spent. Money laundering 101.
Interesting theory, jotto.
I completely missed that.
However, what scheme is used to get a ticket machine to print the winning numbers BEFORE the actual drawing?
Really interesting crime - if there is a crime.
Some 20 years ago, in Indiana scratch ticket lottery, they had a million dollars ticket printed. Some lottery worker noted the box of the tickets and where is was send.
It turned to be a county store in Orange County, the bunnies of IN.
He send his nephew there to buy all the tickets.
And, indeed, they got the winning ticket!
Lottery actually paid the money, but then, the seller got suspicious, when he realized that somebody, whom he never met, showed up, bought all tickets and won! (they give the seller some share of the wins!).
Investigation was launched, and eventually both the uncle and the nephew went to jail!
I never buy scratch up tickets since!
The lottery can be rigged.

Eddie Tipton and his brother Tommy Boyd Tipton were subsequently accused of rigging other lottery drawings, dating back as far as 2005
Ex-lottery worker who rigged winnings gets 25 years in prison

Tipton has agreed to pay about $2.2 million in restitution, including $1.1 million to the Colorado lottery, $644,000 to the Oklahoma lottery, $391,000 to the Wisconsin lottery and $30,000 to the Kansas lottery.
Yes,
That Indiana case was found only, because Orange Co IN is so backward, nobody goes there and everybody there knows everybody else.
So the store owner got suspicious when some stranger showed up and bought all the scratch up tickets! And when he realized that there was a winning ticket there, he alerted authorities!
I think, there is a lot more fraud in lotteries, which goes unreported.
I also heard that mafia/cartels like to buy the winning tickets and offer premium. So they can legitimize their earnings?!
