Why Taylor Swift Getting Booed at the Super Bowl Was Even More Chilling Than You Think
Glamour ^ | Feb 10, 2025 | Stephanie McNeal

From my seat at Super Bowl LIX, the crowd’s disparate reactions to Swift and Trump felt like a chilling microcosm of our culture.

…It was just a football game, people might say. Or Swift—who is famously dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce—got heckled by some rowdy Eagles fans excited to be at the biggest sporting event of the year. So? Don’t take it so seriously.

…Perhaps the moment would have felt less visceral if not for the fact that less than an hour earlier the crowd had exploded—this time with applause—to see Trump on that same screen. As an image of the president, stonefaced and standing in a salute, was shown to the crowd during Jon Batiste’s national anthem performance, the roar of approval and cheers was deafening (of course, there were those in the crowd who booed the president and cheered for Swift as well, but from my vantage point, it was clear what the overall sentiment was).

…It’s important to place these two moments in the context in which they exist. Though there are nuances to both, Trump and Swift exemplify two factions of American culture currently struggling for dominance.

…In an era when Trump is singlehandedly dismantling decades of diversity, equity, and inclusion that generations of women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people have fought for, the Super Bowl felt like a microcosm of a larger problem. Not only does it feel as though Trump and his ilk want Swift out of football, it’s as if they want to return our entire country to a time when they were in control, had all the power, and could say whatever they wanted without repercussions.

And if it seems scary online, it’s even more chilling when you’re forced to confront it face to face.

For the left, everything they don’t like, don’t agree with, or doesn’t support their narrative that everyone should embrace them is a calamity. Drama, hand wringing, and pearl clutching is their reaction to everything that is not personally affirming or comforting. Can mass suicides be far behind?

Those last 7 words are the most chilling from this article. It is an admission that they want to silence every voice that does not mime their every word.

Gosh; I haven’t read this magazine since my 20s, but it looks like it’s ‘suiciding’ the same way SNL did - petty politics in everything:

I reject this entire falsified premise.

Trump is returning us to a time when people were based on their merit, not judged by the color of their skin, who they have sex with, or what body parts and hormones to which they subject themselves. Trump is bringing COMMON SENSE back, instead of frenzied emotional response that is often worse than doing nothing.

Chilling? I think it warmed people’s souls to know that America is finally waking up to the asinine woke agenda and saying “Nope” to it!

The DEI crap only started in the last six or so years.

It has been incubating in the Universities since the 1970s.

The crowd was 65 percent Eagles fans. Swift was an Eagles fan from Reading, and turned traitor for Travis. She got what she deserved.

I’m strong. I read the entire article. I could have guessed accurately the entire rest of the article without reading more than the lead-in.

Freepers who DON’T read articles are not all wrong.
