From my seat at Super Bowl LIX, the crowd’s disparate reactions to Swift and Trump felt like a chilling microcosm of our culture.
…It was just a football game, people might say. Or Swift—who is famously dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce—got heckled by some rowdy Eagles fans excited to be at the biggest sporting event of the year. So? Don’t take it so seriously.
…Perhaps the moment would have felt less visceral if not for the fact that less than an hour earlier the crowd had exploded—this time with applause—to see Trump on that same screen. As an image of the president, stonefaced and standing in a salute, was shown to the crowd during Jon Batiste’s national anthem performance, the roar of approval and cheers was deafening (of course, there were those in the crowd who booed the president and cheered for Swift as well, but from my vantage point, it was clear what the overall sentiment was).
…It’s important to place these two moments in the context in which they exist. Though there are nuances to both, Trump and Swift exemplify two factions of American culture currently struggling for dominance.
…In an era when Trump is singlehandedly dismantling decades of diversity, equity, and inclusion that generations of women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ people have fought for, the Super Bowl felt like a microcosm of a larger problem. Not only does it feel as though Trump and his ilk want Swift out of football, it’s as if they want to return our entire country to a time when they were in control, had all the power, and could say whatever they wanted without repercussions.
And if it seems scary online, it’s even more chilling when you’re forced to confront it face to face.

If she wants to play football, she needs to get drafted, pass the physical, wear pads and get out there to do it.
Then there’s Hollywood where only violent white men are the evil protagonists and are easily beaten to a pulp by 70 lb lesbians with spinning back fists and highflying roundhouse kicks
The writer forgot to bring up this little bit of diversity
These snowflakes find patriotism and an America First agenda “scary” and “chilling.” They demand preferential treatment and walking on eggshells to appease their own favored groups but are opposed to that same treatment to those they see as political foes.
They must continue to be defeated if we are to maintain a constitutional republic.
And Condé Nast Publications, itself, is owned -- Wiki again -- "Advance Publications, Inc. is a privately held American media company owned by the families of Donald Newhouse and Samuel Irving Newhouse Jr., the sons of company founder Samuel Irving Newhouse Sr. It owns publishing-related companies including American City Business Journals, MLive Media Group, and Condé Nast, and is a major shareholder in Charter Communications (13% ownership), Reddit (30% ownership), and Warner Bros. Discovery (8% ownership)."
What this all is comes to directed messaging, in the sense of editorial stances presented as if news. Fell the "anti-Trump" "influence" yet? They hope we will. And we won't, which must be "chilling" to them. '
The vapid speculations of psychobabblers are best ignored.
I don’t watch a bunch of grown men chase a ball while playing grab ass so I didn’t miss a thing.
These same people were calling Taylor Swift a “Nazi” when she was still more or less apolitical.
Have we audited Glamour [what’s with the British spelling?] to see how much NGO money they are getting?
The Democratic party is the party of Women, and people who the women approve of or need. It’s more of a cult than a party. A series of groups have almost nothing in common.
Also, Swift was a former Eagles Fan, and she switched loyalties to date Travis Kelsey.
It’s hard to imagine anything that would enrage an Eagles fan more. And Eagles fans mostly just lost the slope in their forehead 2 generations ago.
Much ado about nothing overall. People like Trump and the first Pres to attend a Superbowl... and contrast with am Eagles traitor.
She wasn’t surprised and knew why Philly fans hate her. It’s always Sunny in Philly. And some Chiefs fans are not huge fans because Kelsey had a poor season when she showed up.
So she had few friends there. All good sports fun, not chilling.
We had dei before the socialist utopian builders enforced their version of dei.
We let it happen naturally. Of course it wasn’t what the socialists wanted.
In the 70s and 80s people got along so much better than now.
Its whats being fed into their brains, what media and society tell them, and what they choose to voluntarily put in their heads. And its all negative and violent and angry. And thats what they’ve heard since the mid 80s, when violent rap started, but it goes back further to Johnson.
Hey, Glamour, did you get the message, or are you unable to understand it? You can NOT have your way all of the time. To have your way, you have to kill us. So, either get started, or shut up.
Yes...one is a bed-hopping pop star, and the other is the President of the United States.
She is a dumped repeatedly curious lesbian bestie when she dares use the phrases “toxic masculinity” or makes those little heart shaped hand signs
Anyone have the over under on how long we’ll be beating this dead horse?
**The fact that an adult American thinks that a pop star represents the “good” side of our country is chilling… or maybe laughable is a better description.**
Well, there were girls wailing and passing out at the Beatles Shea stadium concert. So, the dumbing down of young people, by the music industry, has been going on for a long time.
Nobody forced her to enter the political arena!
Considering the source, this is actually a feel good article. I think they are starting to get it.
