I posted this in chat.
I am unable to determine which states require not only taking but testing in economics coursework in order to graduate and obtain a high school diploma.
The closest I can get annual survey of the states CES reports.
And it's scary how you require economics.
And it’s scary how few require it
What are the results?
As far as I can tell they do not even require civics anymore.
This ping list is for articles of interest to homeschoolers. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping List. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added or removed from either list, or both.
The keyword for the FREE REPUBLIC HOMESCHOOLERS’ FORUM is frhf.
Got a C-Note sez it ain’t California.
Most districts require gov/econ class as a semester or split semester class. It’s usually a pointless class, though.
When I tried to teach economics in elementary school (It was part of the gifted curriculum), I was told it was too political and I was told to stop.
There was an econ track but that was kinda scoffed at, for kids that couldn't do math.
I was an Econ minor in college, back in the 80’s. Then took it again in my MBA in 2014. I do not WANT HS to teach Econ because I guarantee they would get it 100% wrong. Home Ec, absolutely, but Econ, no way. In my MBA I got in an argument with my Professor about a question, and proved my theorem mathematically, and still got it graded wrong because she was a friggin Keynesian-Marxist.

Economics is political? I guess if you want a zombie populace do not teach subjects they should know.
Florida requires a 1/2 credit course.
1 credit US History
1 credit world history
1/2 credit US government
Hell, you’re not even required to be able to read and write to get through high school in many places.
MY GUESS??? NONE
Ga does not.
All of my kids took an economics class. They had to create budgets, play the stock market, create a business plan, etc.
I don’t know if it was required to graduate, but I know that creating a home annual budget was an eye-opener for them. It helped my oldest two become savers.
They stopped asking for a lot of stuff, started turning lights off, started conserving water, and more. They realized just how much my husband and I had to earn to pay for everything, including all their goodies.
When my health really started to tank, they even stopped asking for Christmas gifts. Instead of wanting new computers, a new gaming system, a $600 VR headset, and more, they would ask for one thing (typically under $200). We didn’t impose a budget on them; they agreed among themselves.
30 years ago, I was the teacher all parents wanted. By the end of my career, the world was topsy turvy. Math was racist. Children could only be taught through games. No work could be corrected (might hurt their feelings). And grades were eliminated.
You couldn’t drag me kicking and screaming into a classroom today. My daughter always said she wanted me to homeschool her future children. But it looks like she is going to marry a liberal (voted for Kamala). So that WILL NEVER happen.
Debt is great-- the more the better. It's just an imaginary number. It doesn't hurt the economy at all. It's how Roosevelt got us straight out if the Depression.
Only now is DJT, a South African, and a young person named Big Balls, starting to steer the bus away from the cliff.
By the time I was in school, that was long gone from N.Y. state and also in Pa., where I went to boarding school.
And by the time I had progeny, that was a specialized class that some ( actually, I only know of one ) elite private day schools, in Chicago and a couple of suburbs offered. Do they still? I don't know.
Dr. Thomas Sowell’s Basic Economics book should be a must read. One of the best books I’ve ever read.
