Let you and I select a target project and let NASA and SpaceX both perform the task, with a $1 million dollar fine for each day the project misses its completion date. You pay for the NASA version, and the US taxpayers will pay for the SpaceX contract. If you end up paying less for the NASA bill, I'll call you brilliant and stop talking. If SpaceX ends up costing less, you have to sit down and forever STFU.
