Trump Calls for Department of Education to Be ‘Closed Immediately’
Breitbart ^ | February 12, 2025 | Elizabeth Weibel

Posted on 02/13/2025 3:02:03 AM PST by Morgana

President Donald Trump expressed that he wants the Department of Education to be “closed immediately,” describing it as a “big con job.”

When asked by a reporter how soon Trump wanted the Department of Education to be closed, Trump criticized how the United States education system was ranked 40th compared to other countries but ranked number one in terms of “costs per pupil.”

“Oh, I’d like it to be closed immediately,” Trump answered. “Look, the Department of Education is a big con job. We’re ranked — so they ranked the top forty countries in the world. We’re ranked number 40th, but we’re ranked number one in one department, costs per pupil. So, we spend more per pupil than any other country in the world, but we’re ranked number 40. We’ve been between 38 and 40, the last time I looked it was 38 and then I looked two days ago … it came out at number 40.”

“Norway, Denmark, Sweden, I hate to say it — China, as big as it is, it’s ranked in the top five,” Trump continued. “That’s a primary competitor. We’re ranked number 40 — so, if we’re ranked number 40, that means something’s really wrong, right?”

Trump continued to state that the United States government should send education back down to states, “I say send it back to Iowa, to Idaho, to Colorado.”

“We probably have 35, maybe 37 states that will do as well as Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden,” Trump added. “They’ll be just as good.”

Trump has previously stated he wants to close the Department of Education and move education back into the hands of the states.

For every teacher in a classroom we have probably 5 administrators, 5 “counselors “ and 5-10 filling out required DOE paperwork. The actual teaching cost per pupil is 1/8 vs the 7/8 of wasted positions. It’s the same or worse with healthcare / hospitals. Tons of waste to meet guidance from the . Kill the wasted BS requirements and cost will immediately go down. Kill the departments of education EPA HHS DHS…

Kill every agency that has a SWAT team. It appears that they all want their own little army. If any agency issues those “evil guns”’ gut them. We do have a military, state & local police force. We can collect all weapons from Broward County FL where their police run away from school shooters. IDK what to do with Uvalde TX. The cowards of TX.

Back to my original point is there are probably 100 different agencies/groups with their own SWAT teams. They need to all be fired and the guns/ammo given to upstanding citizens.

The Department of Indoctrination never should have been created in the first place. It took decades to realize just how bad Carter really was.

But he can slow walk EVERYTHING, and make them fight for any dime released.

Fraudulent programs, of which I’m sure most are, can be shut down. If they can’t come up with a legal replacement, the spigot is just shut off for the time being.

Works for me, while Congress gets its act together for a real shutdown.

You mean the same Congress that doesn’t follow its own rules and regulations that say it must pass a budget?

Ironically, the ratings are done by liberals to show why we need to spend more.

NOW we know what all the gender college classes / degrees were about !
remember thinking “ where will that get them a job ? “ ?

academia created the gender studies degrees as trojan horses to infiltrate all gov jobs with trained communists trained specifically to engender ( pun intended ) communist take over from the inside .

academia needs nutting so bad. DOE needs to be shut down yesterday !

The DOE violates the law every day. The law says the DOE shall not control the content of an educational institution and everyone in education knows they do.

“No provision of a program administered by the Secretary or by any other officer of the Department shall be construed to authorize the Secretary or any such officer to exercise any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, adminisPUBLIC LAW 96-88—OCT. 17, 1979 tration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system, over any accrediting agency or association, or over the selection or content of library resources, textbooks, or other instructional materials by any educational institution or school system, except to the extent authorized by law. “

I’m a teacher in a small rural school in Missouri. We don’t need nor do we want the Federal Government involved in our eductional programs.

Don’t worry, even if he closes it Congress will still fund it.

Get Congress to pass legislation to make this permanent. Once the funds flow to the states as Block Grants it will never be able to be reversed.

I’ve taught in an urban school and there were actually more “administrative” positions than teachers. I mean it was unbelievable. I now teach in a small rural school and it’s back to basics, one principal and one counselor for the entire school.

The DOE provides consultants to school districts to teach them how to get more money from the federal government and launder it to the local democrap politician’s campaigns. I’ve met several of them in the Denver school district.

There are two pieces here.

If Congress requires a Department called “The Department of Education” then such a place must exist.

It could be a porta potty in front of the Capitol with a big sign on it—but yeah it must exist.

The appropriations are a separate piece.

Over the course of the full fiscal year (ending September) the President is required to make a reasonable effort to spend appropriated funds (impoundment issue).

However unless Congress has given great detail on exactly how the funds are spent the President has total latitude.
Most Congressional appropriation bills are stunningly vague.

If necessary President Trump could just cut big checks to the states to spend the money.

Meanwhile next month Congress will have to debate a continuing budget resolution. That will be their opportunity to weigh in on this issue.

The reason for closing DOE is more than the rank among nation.

Spell out all of the mandatory garbage forced upon the schools. The many “consultants” nd “experts” who function as mentors for Marxism and worse. DOE edicts have forced school systems to hire almost as many non-teaching personnel as they have teachers and have forced per-pupil costs up out of sight.
