NEW: Chrystia Freeland threatens Trump with the “biggest trade blow that the United States has ever endured.”

This includes 100% tariffs on all Teslas, a direct attack on Elon Musk, and a full ban on Wisconsin dairy products to stick it to Trump.

“I am calling on all the countries that are affected by this tariff to join us. And our retaliation will target specific Trump constituencies. Another group that we’re going to go after is Wisconsin dairy farmers. We know how important they are for the President, and we’re not going to let them sell their products in Canada anymore,” Freeland said.

This is the same woman who froze Canadian truckers’ bank accounts for protesting vaccine mandates.

What about all that hysteria that consumers are hurt by tariffs. She must not think so.

I did not realize that Canada bossed the international trade of the United States.

China, Japan, South Korea, Caribbean countries and anyone else in the world.

Oil is a fungible commodity.
Meaning anyone will buy it and it is interchangeable with the same product from other places in the world.
The major difference is the level of sulfur in the oil.

There are refineries that purchase Canadian oil because it is CHEAPER than all the other oil produced in the world.

Do you pay more for gasoline and drive 30 miles out of the way to buy it?
No, you buy it from the place that is convenient and the least expensive.
This is WHY we buy things from Canada.
They are right next door which lowers the freight to get it here.
Which makes it cheaper than oil from other sources.

This is the same reason why we buy their paper products, lumber, aluminum, steel, diamonds, minerals, seafood and lots of other products.
They are delivered cheaper than other comparable products.
That is how the Free Market works.
When you add Duties, Tariffs, Quotas to the market it changes the price delivered.
Typically increasing it for the final consumer, YOU.

Maple syrup and Canadian bacon are both produced in the US, as well. No need to buy it from Canada.

But Farmerbob,

We can’t shut down the border. If we do that, Canada would collapse...

...oh, wait.

Actually you do.
You just may not know it.
Do you buy paper towels and toilet paper?
It may be coming from Canada.

ANYTHING you buy in the grocery store, Walmart or Amazon gets delivered to you by a truck, ship and railcar that burns diesel fuel.
By raising the price on one of the main import suppliers of that fuel it will increase the price of all items incrementally on those shipping vehicles. This is inflationary.
It cuts into GDP.

The price of lumber, steel, aluminum, diesel has an effect on the cost of new home construction and many other things.
Increasing the cost of home construction makes that product more expensive for all the people looking to purchase a home.
Home construction is a major economic indicator.
Which is why the government track it on a monthly basis. Slow construction affects literally hundreds of industries.

An increase in the price of automobiles made in Canada will have a ripple effect across the entire industry. It will raise the cost of all automobiles sold in the USA.
Even if they are made in the USA.
Many of the parts are made in Canada and Mexico.
If Ford or GM raises their price, don’t you think Toyota will raise theirs even if that vehicle is made in San Antonio?

Seems to me that if tariffs are so bad, like all the GLOBULLISTS TELL US, she would be lowering tariff rates not raising them. Seems like every country likes tariffs but us, until we got sanity about tariffs with Trump at the helm.

Oh the horror in Canada, think of the inflation. Children and women harmed the most. /sarc

Some (not sure how many) of our cars are made in Canadian plants. Not saying they are the best or the worst. I don’t have anything to directly compare them with.

She’s pandering to the Liberal membership in a Leadership election. Will see how this goes in a General Election, assuming she can beat Mark Carney in the race to lead the Liberals in the first place.

Dairy products from the US already have a more than 250% tariff, and have for some time. She is proposing to jack it up even more?

“USAID probably got Trudeau elected.”

Yup.

Communism: How a small group of people control a large populace with propaganda, deception, theft and coercion.

If you’re a small group of people which seeks to defraud and subjugate a nation are you going to support a representative government or a dictatorship?

Georgia Meloni of Italy is a female leader who likes Trump. If Marine Le Pen can win in France, she’d be another one.
