Today, Senator Rick Scott introduced the bipartisan Sunshine Protection Act, to officially “lock the clock” and end the twice-yearly time change and make Daylight Saving Time the national year-round standard.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I hear from Americans constantly that they are sick and tired of changing their clocks twice a year – it’s an unnecessary, decades-old practice that’s more of an annoyance to families than benefit to them.

No! I vehemently oppose this. DST should be eliminated, period!

Not so...I worked outside for 50 years...I always started early and got done early...so I had more free time to myself and my family.

State Senator Rick Bennett has two bills in the Maine Legislature to adopt “Eastern Standard Time” for Maine year around.

I fully support his efforts to have one time in each zone year around.

“I hear from Americans constantly that they are sick and tired of changing their clocks twice a year"

What a stupid statement. Computers and phones do it automatically, some cars do it as well. How long does it take to reset a conventional clock? Maybe a minute or two per clock.

I remember the "energy crisis" in the 70s where we went to daylight savings all year round to "save energy". There were lots of complaints about kids going to school while it was still dark.

I like it the way it is now, except daylight savings starts too early and stays in effect too long.

We’re dealing with work and school schedules at the same time.

Same. Put me in the permanent DST column. Late evening walks and motorcycle rides are the best.

I like the way it is now too. People don’t seem to realize it won’t get light until 8am in the winter, or the sun will come up at 4:30am in the summer. They think “the government” is going to give them more daylight.

So you want kids going to school in the dark just so you can have late night walks and rides?

I hated working in the office and coming home after dark. Couldn’t do anything outside.

Don’t care which way they set it- just set it and forget it. We expect them to do it now that R’s are in control. Do it already and be done with it.

I thought Marco Rubio got theirs through committee. But I bet every democrat votes against it. They like the reminder that the government controls everything

So all those who want permanent DST, you would put your late night way of life over seeing that kids get to go to school in the daylight?

DST needs to be eliminated, period. The rest of the world is on Standard Time. Why should the US be any different?

Geez, don't get me going on this one.
