Today, Senator Rick Scott introduced the bipartisan Sunshine Protection Act, to officially “lock the clock” and end the twice-yearly time change and make Daylight Saving Time the national year-round standard.
Senator Rick Scott said, “I hear from Americans constantly that they are sick and tired of changing their clocks twice a year – it’s an unnecessary, decades-old practice that’s more of an annoyance to families than benefit to them.

Makes my days more productive.
Should be standard time that’s made permanent.
he’s doing it opposite of what it should be!
Agree.
Standard Time (what we are on now) is for the children....
DST is for golfers.
It was so nice when we switched to Standard Time this fall and the children were FINALLY going to school surrounded by daylight.
Only the government could think of changing the clocks to fool mother nature.
And only the government could think of getting rid of the use of fossil fuels to change the climate.
I’d like to lock the clock on standard time. I hate daylight savings time. I detest having to wake up in the morning in pitch-darkness.
Aren’t we supposed to use this time change to also check the batteries in our smoke alarms? :)
I like it the way it is. Changing the clocks is a tradition associated with more than just manipulating daylight, for many of us...
I’m for whichever one makes it get dark later. I don’t care if it’s dark in the morning. Gives me something to look forward to.
Make Standard Time the default.
Smoke alarms. Will there be more lives lost in house fires as a result? Unintended consequence. I let my smoke alarms alone until they chirp at me.
Let that steak flame...that’ll do it!!
Has it occurred to you to change your schedule instead of expecting the rest of the country to change their clocks to suit you? Asking for a friend.
We also change the batteries in the NOAA radio...
Retaining the current system is like the “anchor baby” thing. They’re archaic, and the purpose for their existence is long gone.
I TOTALLY agree!
I’ve never found it bothersome enough to be ‘sick and tired’ of it.
I guess this is more hyperbole...
Standard time. They did this in Mexico last year.
I worked for a place that changed its workday hours from roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day, and it was a minor PITA that would have accomplished pretty much what Scott and the daylighters want (and most of the WWI combatant nations forced down their subjects' throats).
