As a Mi-8 helicopter arrived to evacuate the downed pilot, Ukrainian FPV drones struck the aircraft, causing serious damage.
In the end, Russian forces abandoned their evacuation team, prioritizing the damaged helicopter over their own pilot and rescue crew. The Mi-8 crew decided that their aircraft was more valuable than the lives of those on the ground.
