Fans have been concerned for Wendy Williams, and she received good news despite her conservatorship woes. The former host of The Wendy Williams Show was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia. It has forced the talk show superstar into a conversatorship. Williams was put on a conversatorship back in 2022 when she reportedly lost all her money. Wells Fargo and Williams began going back and forth after she asked for a look into her bank statements when she questioned some things her financial advisor did. Now, she is stuck in a battle. Williams did have success with her conversatorship by getting permission to go to her father's birthday.
After a viral interview with The Breakfast Club showed Williams tearfully talking about her father, who is turning 94, a judge ruled that Williams is allowed to go to Miami for the celebration. That same judge did also say that Williams is no longer allowed to speak to the media, per TMZ. Williams has been confined to a studio apartment in an assisted living situation and will return to her confinement when she returns to New York City after the celebration in Miami.
TMZ also interviewed Williams for a documentary they are making on her called Saving Wendy where the talk show host shared that she felt like she was living in a luxury prison and that she was not allowed to have visitors or receive calls from anyone. The interview took place with Williams standing at the window of her apartment crying to host Harvey Levin about how she wanted to go and visit her father because she wasn't sure how many more birthdays she'd be able to spend with him.
TMZ also caught up with former CNN anchor Don Lemon while at LAX. There, Lemon said that the conservatorship was too strict and that he felt as if Williams should be able to see her family more freely. Lemon recently interviewed Williams and told TMZ that he hasn't spoken to her since but has kept speaking with her family. He shared that he just wants her to have her own freedom, whether that means completely being free from her conservatorship or with Williams getting some kind of medical help. After the judge's ruling though, Williams cannot speak to the media. You can see Williams on older episodes of her talk show.
Very sad.
So sad. I am glad she can go to her father’s birthday celebration.
I have to say I had no idea who this woman is. Which I guess is a statement on how long it has been since I removed Fake Media and pop “culture” from my life.
The only Wendy Williams I was familiar with was Wendy O. Williams, the punk rocker with the Plasmatics. And she’s long-deceased.
Aww! Pulling for her!
Well that explains nothing. How is it a judge can deny someone from speaking to their family. I thought this was America, to quote the great Randy Marsh.
“Wendy O. Williams”
In your monkey suit, you just look like a monkey!
Loved the Plasmatics.
This stinks to high heaven.
Bruce Willis is diagnosed with this same affliction. Yet his family is taking care of him and he spoke to some fans a couple weeks ago..............
The same diagnosis in 2 different people can produce different symptoms, depending on the environment and support situation they are in. And once a person gets “into the system”, government people and judges get involved.
She was a super model who went on to become a talk show host when her youthful looks began to fade. Smart woman. She has my sympathy. My dad went through with what she’s dealing with now. It’s a horrible condition that will eventually kill her.
The judge evidently thinks solitary confinement is curative for her condition.
I don’t know a single daytime talk host who ISN’T demented.
I guess The View would be in that category. Enough said!
