Summary
Donald Trump said the US could "take over" Gaza, in a joint news conference with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House
The president says the US could "do a real job" by removing unexploded bombs and economically redeveloping the Palestinian territory into "the Riviera of the Middle East"
He also proposed that Palestinians should be resettled outside of Gaza while it was rebuilt, though countries throughout the Middle East have previously rejected this proposal
Netanyahu - the first foreign leader to visit in the US president's second term - said Trump's plan was an idea "worth paying attention to"

The Palestinians will never give it up nor do they want to be resettled
Make America Great Again suggests fixing St. Louis, Detroit, LA, or Pittsburgh come before Gaza, not to mention our $37T debt.
Agreed.
At all.
yes, yes, yes
I think he’s saying it to help Netanyahu in all honesty
He cant be serious
It’s a done deal.
Military base to wipe Iran clean off the map.
Beleaguered Bibi and Isreal free of owning the fight.
Here is where normal people can step in and say, OK Mr. President, this is a bad, bad idea. And hopefully he listens to them.
Doubt it.
I think he's trying to get the Arabs involved. Every country in the Middle East should take 100,000 refugees from Gaza.
If they won't cooperate.
Fine. The Americans will go in.
Trump has the "trump" card. Everyone believes that he's "crazy" enough to do it.
So all a deal may be made.
Maybe.
Art of the deal.
That was my first and second response...
Then I remembered how many times Trump has made me look like a fool.
It’s not THAT MUCH of a challenge, but still... :)
Something is going on inside that insanely brilliant mind of his that will make the outcome seem like another stroke of genius.
We will see.
The fakestinians are very very very savage and dangerous.
Let’s keep USA troops out of there.
Trump can help by seeing to it that they’re repatriated home to Egypt and Arabia. He has the clout to arrange it. All their homelands (and other Moslem countries) want is some “humanitarian assistance” to cover costs and probably make a profit. They’re excellent bargaining regimes. Outstanding at it. Saying no is just the opening gambit for them in any negotiation
But however that works out Trump was spot on right to move them — and frankly Indonesia has so many islands they can keep the civilized people safe from these Satanic savages. Several nations will volunteer patrol ships
The comments are that strange he must have a reason for making them i.e helping Netanyahu at home, perhaps?
Let’s not forget Netanyahu is now in a coalition and these comments would be helpful even if pie in the sky
Qatar should rebuild Gaza. They gave sanctuary to Hamas.
I dont disagree with that they should step up with others
This is a deal we do not want or need.
I think Sisi is going to find it too much of a risk to accept refugees from Gaza. Muslim Brotherhood is a banned movement in Egypt so the last thing Sisi needs to deal with is a bunch of Hamas Terrorists from Gaza.
Sounds like the Marshall Plan
You can take the man out of real estate development but you can’t take real estate development out of the man. Trump sees this sunny ~25 mile strip of beachfront property that’s a horrific s—thole and imagines it as something beautiful— the Riviera of the Middle East, as he said. The problem is how to do you get from Point A to Point B? Few Americans have an appetite for spending blood and treasure on a scheme like this, but who knows? Maybe Trump plans to get the rich Arabs (cf., Saudis, UAE etc) to pay for it.
Not exactly.
In the Marshall Plan, the U.S. financed the rebuilding of Germany for the benefit of Germans. Turning enemies into friends.
If this were like the Marshall Plan, Israel would finance the rebuilding of Gaza for the benefit of the Gazans.
Which certainly is not going to happen.
It does have a lot of potential I’ve seen the pics on TV
Analysts are saying there is no plan behind Trump’s comments and they’re off the cuff remarks.
I think he’s being provocative. I’m sure he has reasons for saying these things maybe to help Netanyahu at home
