As long as it doesn’t substitute for the national anthem, I see nothing wrong with this song.

Agreed. IMHO, ever time the political class brings up Lift Every Voice and Sing or anything else related to slavery or abolition, us Christians outta chest thump and tell everyone that the abolition movement was almost entirely a Christian movement. Also, the most organized movement against abolition was called the Democrat Party (at least in the decades between Andrew Jackson and the Civil War).

If we are taking down non American flags, which I’m good with, then that song needs to be dropped. Play it in the locker room, toilets or at the concessions stands.

The National Anthem covers every one. Their song does not belong here. They are NOT a separate entity.

Should we also have the Latino National Anthem, the Chinese-American national anthem, the LGBTQ+ national anthem? I think a single national anthem without a qualifier in front is better.

It’s been in Baptist hymnals forever, and is a nice song.
Just like so many other good things, the left takes something good and co-opts it for evil. I say that considering the current context, it needs to stay in church not in sports. It IS divisive.

I do. Blacks do not have a national anthem, and claiming so is racist and anti-American divisiveness.

I bet you would if whites wanted a White National Anthem, maybe, say, ‘The Flag Raised High’?

It will be soon enough if you let it go. It’s what they’re angling for. There is only one national anthem and its colors are red, white and blue.

Correct..
Nothing wrong with the song.
In retrospect...
It IS substituting our National Anthem, by being perferformed first. Our nation’s song should always be given the honor ahead of everything else.

I always thought “Oh Beautiful” or “God Bless America” were better pre-anthems, but I really don’t care either way now as I retired from watching sportsball when the whole take-a-knee thing poisoned the NFL.

As long as it doesn’t substitute for the national anthem, I see nothing wrong with this song. I agree. The song was written by a Republican. We should embrace that as part of our history. Instead, too many here want to let the Democrats take it from us.

As long as it doesn’t substitute for the national anthem, I see nothing wrong with this song. I think it's divisive to have 2 or more national anthems. I won't go, but if I did, I'd sit for that song.
