Ukraine Criticizes U.S. Peace Proposal For Cease-Fire, Elections As 'Failed Plan'

-snip-

Late on February 2, Trump said talks with Ukraine and Russia were going "pretty well."

"We have meetings and talks scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia. And I think those discussions are actually going pretty well," he added without being specific.

Hours earlier, Trump's special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, warned both sides will have to make concessions if they hope to negotiate a settlement to the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "has already indicated he will soften his position on land," Kellogg said. "And [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is going to have to soften his positions as well."

"We're going to have discussions with everybody over time, and probably in the near term," he added. "And it's good for both sides."

Kellogg told Reuters in an interview that Washington wants Ukraine to hold elections, potentially by the end of this year, especially if a truce is reached to stop the fighting.

Putin is working on goal #1, destroy the armies (Uke and NATO) arrayed around him

Putin is not going to stop defending Russia from threats until that goal is met

Can’t imagine why Zelensky doesn’t want elections.

Just kidding.

Zelensky has agreed to elections as early as 90 days after martial law is ended. After the Easter ceasefire, Zelensky will end martial law per the Trump plan and then the election free for all will start.

Nobody cares what Zelensky thinks. He’s an unelected Deep State puppet.

2.5 could be a good estimate.
The Ukraine is low on both fighters and ammo.
Not too much time left for The Ukraine

Zelenskyy should just keep quiet and let the adults resolve this conflict.

Trump and Putin and Zelensky understand the powerful optics of an Easter Ceasefire. Normal Easter and Russian Easter both fall on April 20th this year.

They'll never give Trump the Peace Prize.

They'll give it to Zelensky.

Hillary Clinton calls Zelensky’s 2022 speech to Congress ‘extraordinary’

By Sonnet Swire and Rashard Rose, CNN.com, Wed December 21, 2022

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to Congress “extraordinary,” saying the country’s fight against Russian aggression has “proven that they are a really good investment for the United States.”

The speech “connected the struggle of Ukrainian people to our own revolution, to our own feelings that we want to be warm in our homes to celebrate Christmas and to get us to think about all the families in Ukraine that will be huddled in the cold and to know that they are on the front lines of freedom right now,” Clinton said on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360” Wednesday.

She said Zelensky’s historic address “strengthened both Democrats and Republicans who understand what is at stake in this fight against Putin and Russian aggression and now with their ally, Iran, as well.”

“I also think no one is asking for a blank check,” Clinton added. “I believe that the Ukrainians have proven that they are a really good investment for the United States. They are not asking us to be there to fight their war. They’re fighting it themselves. They’re asking us and our allies for the means to not only defend themselves but to actually win.”

When asked, Clinton said that President Joe Biden sending a Patriot missile battery to Ukraine was “absolutely” the right move.

“I hope that they will send more than one,” she added. She noted there’s “been some reluctance in the past” by the US and NATO to provide advanced equipment, but added “We’ve seen with our own eyes how effective Ukrainian military is.”

Clinton, who previously met Russian President Vladimir Putin as US secretary of state, said the leader was “probably impossible to actually predict,” as the war turns in Ukraine’s favor and his popularity fades at home.

“I think around now, what [Putin] is considering is how to throw more bodies, and that’s what they will be – bodies of Russian conscripts – into the fight in Ukraine,” Clinton said.

President Trump -- according to the article you posted -- made a general statement but "added without being specific."

You asserted a leaked peace deal, days back, and then asserted some other future events, without providing links to sources validating your assertions.

You too are not "being specific," when it comes to sourced materials for your assertions.

“President Trump will win the Nobel Peace Prize for ending Putin’s invasion.”

How is that if Russia keeps all the lands they hold now? That’s not “ending the invasion”, that’s just halting the advances. You sure changed your tune.

The eu will want the usa to continue as a funding partner of nato. In return (for funding only, not troops), trump could demand Greenland. Denmark will be convinced to concede by the other nato partners.

If the USA needs to get out of nato, then the Ukraine peace agreement could provide some cover towards that end (just saying). Without the USA, nato could be perceived as stronger in the sense that it does not have to kowtow to the USA for agreement on every minor decision- it would have a freer hand, at least in principle.

The USA would get reduced exposure to the threat of being dragged into another European war (or at least more so than at present), more access to raw natural resources (Greenland), and save our troops for truly national defense. Over time, nato support financial burden could be attenuated.
