LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Sunday that he would seek a strong trade relationship with the U.S. after President Donald Trump suggested he would slap Europe with tariffs after he hit America’s biggest trading partners — Canada, Mexico and China — with import taxes.

Starmer spoke to reporters while hosting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at his country estate on the eve of a mission to improve relations with the European Union.

“In the discussions that I have had with President Trump, that is what we have centered on, a strong trading relationship,” he said. “So it is very early days.”

Canada and Mexico ordered retaliatory tariffs in response to Trump’s announcement that the U.S. on Tuesday will stick a 25% levy on imports from Canada and Mexico and 10% on goods from China. Trump said he “absolutely” plans to impose tariffs on the EU.

Starmer has to pick a side. EU or US.

It's unlikely Trump will take measures against the UK given the sizable trade deficit the UK has.

“Keir” is a totally gay name. I can see why he ended up this way.

Keir is as gay as a French trombone.

Keir Starmer looks exactly like this dork:

Twins separated at birth.

“Keir is as gay as a French trombone.”

Don’t tarnish me, I didn’t claim Keir was gay! But if a pair of parents decide to name their kid “Keir” they shouldn’t be surprised when their baby pops out of mom with an LGBT flag wrapped around him...which is a really bad sign for the kid’s future.

He was named after Keir Hardie, the Scotsman who founded the Labour Party.

Ironically, Keir Hardie was very anti-immigration and opposed to free trade.

He would have gotten along with Trump.

As per Grok, According to UK statistics, the UK has a trade surplus with the US, but according to US statistics, the US has the trade surplus.

Not sure what is going on other than that there is a margin of error that effectively reflects a more or less even trade balance.

Starmer did that long ago.

Starmer is Deep State.

As for taking measures against the UK, Trump will do it.

And as someone who uses/consumes products from the UK daily, I support Trump doing what he has to do.

13.2% of British exports head towards the USA - mostly cars, medicines, refined petroleum, gas turbines and whisky.

And 10% of British imports are from the USA - petroleum, gold and

In 2023, the UK imported £57.4 billion of services from the United States and exported £126.3 billion. This accounted for 19.5% of all service imports and 27.0% of all service exports, making the United States their largest trading partner for both imports and exports of services.

In contrast, The EU accounted for between 50% and 53% of UK imports between 2010 and 2020. This fell to 47-48% in 2021 and 2022. It increased to 52% in 2023, largely due to a fall in goods imports from non-EU countries, especially fuel.

In 2023, the EU accounted for 42% of the UK’s exports (49% of goods exports and 36% of services exports). This share has been broadly stable over the last few years, although down from 47% in 2010 and 2011. The EU accounted for 52% of UK imports in 2023 (55% of goods imports and 46% of services imports).

The UK had a trade deficit with the EU of £99 billion in 2023 and a trade surplus of £77 billion with non-EU countries. The trade deficit with all countries increased to £11.0 billion in the three months to November 2024 compared to £7.3 billion in the three months to August

The trade balance between the UK and US is more or less even, both sides claiming a trade surplus.

We seek cut ties with the UK and let the Brits drown in their own stupidity. England is lost if they won’t fight for themselves.

The UK has to make a decision.......now

Will it rejoin the failing Euro experiment, or will it join with the USA and form newer and much stronger international trade relations?

Given the fact that MB (Mediocre Britain) is Pakistan East, I don’t know what they will do

Starmer is trying to have it both ways

Trump won’t like that but yes, he has to pick a side now.

A good and wise leader, would inform the British populace that there would be absolutely no interaction between the countries until their administration was replaced, for obvious reason
