"American heroes such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Thomas Sowell, Justice Clarence Thomas, and countless others represent what is best in America and her citizens. Their achievements, which have monumentally advanced the tradition of equality under the law in our great country, continue to serve as an inspiration for all Americans."

“American heroes such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Thomas Sowell, Justice Clarence Thomas,....”.
Oh yeah, they won’t like that. Great dig, Mr. President.
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave - a great book.
The left has no problem with Frederick Douglass or Harriet Tubman. Nobody remembers any details about them, so it’s easy to fill in the blanks without whatever claims you like.
George Washington Carver
Lots of problems.
To the point that they tried to destroy Fredrick Douglass's statue.
Booker T. Washington
Tuskegee men
By doing this, he continues the policy he says he hates, i.e., dividing the country. It’s time to stop this. Everyone is an American.
They are also all Republicans.
All Republicans. :-)
I’m 80. We learned about Carver in school. I do not remember anything being taught about Frederick Douglas and I was born in New York.
Good catch. Thanks.
It’s about Blacks in American history. He named accomplished blacks. If it offended anyone, it only offended the perpetually offended.
Nineteen years after Britain abolished slavery throughout the Empire, Fredrick Douglass could declare in frustration, “I have said that the Declaration of Independence is the ringbolt to the chain of your nation’s destiny…. Stand by those principles, be true to them on all occasions, in all places, against all foes, and at whatever cost….The point from which I am compelled to view them is not, certainly, the most favorable; and yet I cannot contemplate their great deeds with less than admiration…..I do not hesitate to declare, with all my soul, that the character and conduct of this nation never looked blacker to me than on this 4th of July! Whether we turn to the declarations of the past, or to the professions of the present, the conduct of the nation seems equally hideous and revolting. America is false to the past, false to the present, and solemnly binds herself to be false to the future”.
When was that written? I’d say it was before the Civil War.
“Let me offer you my definition of social justice:
I keep what I earn and you keep what you earn.
Do you disagree?
Well then tell me how much of what I earn belongs to you - and why?”

Thomas Sowell Quotes
It was Thomas Edison who brought us electricity, not the Sierra Club. It was the Wright brothers who got us off the ground, not the Federal Aviation Administration. It was Henry Ford who ended the isolation of millions of Americans by making the automobile affordable, not Ralph Nader.
Those who have helped the poor the most have not been those who have gone around loudly expressing “compassion” for the poor, but those who found ways to make industry more productive and distribution more efficient, so that the poor of today can afford things that the affluent of yesterday could only dream about.

There is a certain class of race problem-solvers who don’t want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.
Booker T. Washington
Dr. Ben Carson
Great quotes.
I used to listen to Walter Williams when he subbed for Rush and read everything of his when it came out. He was/is an American treasure.
Thank you.
