In 2022, a prize of one million dollars was promised to anyone who could recreate the Shroud of Turin. If the Shroud is a forgery, that should be a simple task. Yet, no one has accepted the challenge. “The Shroud of Turin is the most lied about artifact in history,” says distinguished New testament scholar, Pastor, and President of Christian Thinkers Society, Jeremiah J. Johnston, who guides Glenn through a scientific, historic, and theological exploration “beyond the mystery” to the “message of the Shroud.” Discredited and marginalized as a relic only relevant to the Catholic faith, Jeremiah contends that the Shroud of Turin has something to offer every follower of Christ. He reveals what he believes to be the rare blood type of Jesus, the real design of the crown of thorns, and why, in his opinion, Christ was buried at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Glenn shares what he saw when given a behind the scenes look at the artifacts housed in the Vatican, and asks Jeremiah whether he is concerned about the AI recreation of the face of Christ. Not only may the Shroud of Turin provide a deeper understanding of the crucifixion, but does it also miraculously uncover the exact moment of Christ’s resurrection? Find out in this paradigm shattering episode of the Glenn Beck Podcast.
Third class relic?
Sure, I know what that is.
A retired Senator who never gets invited to insider parties anymore.
Sure about that? You might draw an argument from Jesus when He returns. (flamers, flame away lol)
Perhaps, but here's something true of all atheists:
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Rom. 1:18-20 (NIV)
Equally true: Eternity is a long time, especially towards the end. Peace, A
No one is saying the Shroud of Turin is not an ancient piece of cloth with ancient plant residue and blood from a certain region.
But let’s say I find a fossilized snakeskin in the Fertile Crescent from 5000 years ago (or whatever place and time Creationists believe the Garden of Eden existed). Does that prove that it’s the skin of the Serpent that supposedly tempted Eve?
No, it only proves there were snakes at that time and place.
Now, if they found a fossilized snake with perfectly preserved vocal cords capable of human speech - that would be a different story. LOL.
Troll.
There are too many easons to list why it CANNOT be a medieval forgery.
The scale of the image, the image being a photographic negative, the image being comprised not of paint, but a Maillard chemical reaction if the chemicals on the outer layer of the threads of the Shroud;
the blood stains and type;the pollen; and the carbon dating.
Off the top of my head.
Now do the crucifixion image, and the crown of thorns.
And if you do figure it out....Well....there goes the Grant Money!!
That would be the easy part because the images are vague and ambiguous to say the least. I.e., whatever vague smudges there were on my piece of ancient cloth would be no less convincing than the vague smudges on your piece of ancient cloth.
Amazed all tht X-raying and other manipulation has not destroyed it.
You seem to have not listened before commenting. A Free Republic tradition, no doubt. He mentioned there have been MULTIPLE five-year studies of the shroud. By scientists who just KNEW they could destroy the myth & end the discussion. At least one (an atheist) was so impressed with what he found by SCIENTIFIC INQUIRY that he is now a Christian.
Believe what you want. But really, listening to the podcast might actually change your mind.
So your refutation is, “I can make up a hypothetical which doesn’t exist except in my imaginaton, and that’s enough to refute something which has been extensively documented and studied by numerous scientists in the 20th century using multiple techniques across different fields.”
You stupid troll.
It proves nothing.
As the pastor says, for those who don’t want to believe, no proof is strong enough.
No, I’m just laughing at the circular reasoning on this thread - people who believe the image of the crucifixion on the Shroud is a photographic negative. And that somehow proves the artifact must be legit - because it captures a historical event from a time when photography did not yet exist! LOL.
Make up your mind priest; is it science or is it a miracle?
You stupid troll.
It was science which discovered that it was a photographic negative.
And, since the technology did not exist back then even for that — let alone the induction of the Maillard reaction, let alone the intensity of the image corresponding to depth — that is further evidence against its being a forgery.
BTW, I noticed you’ve now retreated from your “random smears” argument.
Troll.
Nothing proves it was Christ.
It is fascinating.
So did photography exist back then or not?
Who else has been resurrected?
Not one human on earth can explain the Holy Shroud’s image. Why are you so quick to dismiss it?
You haven’t yet explained why the question is significant.
Because the Shroud is not a photograph.
