Top Democratic elected officials and billionaire donors found out they don’t have much pull at the Democratic National Committee, where party insiders on Saturday chose a steady hand — Ken Martin — over their preferred choice for chair.
Neither Martin nor the pick of much of the establishment, Ben Wikler of Wisconsin, were promising a major overhaul of the party. And in selecting Martin, Democrats did little to answer some of the deepest questions their party faces as they search for a path out of the political wilderness.
Instead, inside a hotel ballroom at National Harbor in Maryland on Saturday, Democrats elected Martin, a longtime tactician and Minnesota state party leader who served as a vice chair of the Harris-Walz campaign. Notably, Martin said during his campaign for chair that the party already has “the right message.”
Democrats may be convinced they had it all along, despite the party’s defeat last year. One politician who appeared to have plenty of juice inside the DNC on Saturday was Kamala Harris.
Here are five takeaways from a contest that wasn’t defined by ideological differences or big-name candidates, but by old school politicking.
Billionaires — and big names — take a hit
Harris is still a force
Democrats want to make the DNC matter again
Diversity takes a back seat

That ensures that the next POTUS will be Republican. The left still controls the DNC.
Did she pay off her 20 million debt by sticking it to the little guy?
Harris has the backing of at least one billionaire, I suspect.
LOL 😂 Leftist Politics garbage 🤣🤣🤣
Yup. It is a youthful woke organization. The oldster Democrats are being pushed out. The oldsters depended on the wokesters and cheating to win in 2020. Goodbye democrats.
I laughed so hard reading that I spit my coffee all over!
Their message: "abortion, abortion, transgenders, orange man bad....abortion, abortion, transgenders, orange man bad."
Things look great for our side with this Martin guy running the DNC. He's a "Walz" guy. Tim Walz must have been the worst candidate on a major political party ticket in modern times. I hope they keep picking more candidates like him.
David Hogg? The left has nothing. No people that are appealing and a lot of bad ideas.
I don’t take anything for granted- the enemy has selected its leader- We now must play with the same ferocity and no holds barred intensity as their side.
Martin has been competing against the equivalent of the Wahington Generals in MN- a weak establishment party who have forced out grass roots for many years Let’s see how this mope reacts to the big league
He’s still, and always will be TriangleFaceBoy to me.
Good News: The Dims are doubling down on the absurd policies and candidates that brought them failure and alienated their big donors by sqaundering megabucks foolishly.
Bad News: Dims will be trying to take over the House in the 2026 election so they can block Trump’s agenda and get back to kangeroo court investigations. Their message and vote-harvesting (election-stealing) techniques work better in limited districts. Reps better be focusing on keeping the House.
paraphrasing an article about this from yesterday:
Newly elected DNC chair Ken Martin first vowed to bring back the working-class voters lost by the Democrats, and next vowed to oppose President Trump’s Make America Great Again agenda ... talk about your cognitive dissonance ...
2026 will be tough for us, no doubt.
WIKI
Martin was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 17, 1973. He attended Eden Prairie High School and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1996 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and history.
Martin started his political work in 1990 as an intern for Minnesota U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone’s campaign and later interned in his official office. In 1992, Martin organized college campuses throughout the South for the Clinton/Gore campaign.
He served as the executive assistant to Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch and helped run his 2006 campaign for governor. Working with the North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters, he led an effort on behalf of the building trades to pass prevailing wage ordinances with local governments throughout Minnesota.
In the 2012 Minnesota elections, the DFL regained majorities in both houses of the state legislature; Minnesota became the first state to defeat a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage; a voter ID constitutional amendment was defeated.
In 2016, Minnesota was one of only two Midwestern states to vote for the Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton. In addition, despite losses of rural congressional seats throughout the country, the DFL won all three of its rural congressional races, reelecting Nolan, Tim Walz, and Collin Peterson.
In 2018, Walz was elected governor, marking the first time the DFL had had three consecutive terms in the governor’s office. In addition, the DFL won every constitutional office; won back the majority in the State House of Representatives; flipped two congressional seats from red to blue, one of which had been held by Republicans for over 40 years; and elected two women to the U.S. Senate, Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, becoming only the fifth state to be represented by two women in the Senate simultaneously.
On February 6, 2021, Martin was elected to a sixth term as chairman of the DFL Party making him the longest-serving chairman in the party’s 75-year history. The Star Tribune noted that the DFL had recently seen a slew of wins statewide and raised around three times as much funding as the state Republican Party in his first 10 years as chair. By the time of Martin’s reelection, the Minnesota DFL had $2.5 million in the bank compared to the Republicans’ $55,000.

Perhaps Trump should seek to sell Minnesota to Canada, for $1.
We need to pass all needed federal law changes ASAP.
Remember how fast Newt Gingrich worked.
“Harris”
Kamala needs to land a book contract and be nice to her lawyer husband.
She’s finished in politics.
This, like Hogg’s approval, is good. Instead of TWOT’s that billionaire donors will fund, the DNC will simply push more commie trash. Just like the Libertarian party did when they recommended a commie, this will doom the Demo party, too.
