What Really Bothers Them About Tulsi Gabbard - A Bi-Paritsan Witch Hunt in the US Congress
Free Thinking Through the Fourth Turning ^ | 30 Jan, 2025 | Sasha Stone

Tulsi Gabbard is a rare former Democrat who dared to challenge the Democratic establishment. She confronted the party's most powerful players. In 2020, she unmasked Kamala Harris at the debates and instantly became a dangerous threat to them.

She also threatens many on the Right, too. They don’t like that she refuses to call Edward Snowden a “traitor.” So on and on it went, yet another Cotton Mather tribunal aimed at her to admit out loud something they know she does not believe. What they wanted from her was a lie. They wanted her to prove to them that she would bow down, that she was afraid of them, and that she wanted the job enough to do what they told her to do.

If they can get her to betray her principles and lie about what she believes in her mind and heart, they know they can convince her to say or do anything. Well, she is not a corrupt politician or a dishonest person, and shame on them for that grotesque circus we just watched.

Over and over, it went, “Do you think he’s a traitor?” Again and again, she answered, “Edward Snowden broke the law.” She does not believe him to be a traitor, OBVIOUSLY, because she believes his intentions were not to hurt Americans but to inform them that their rights were being violated. It’s not like he was selling nuclear secrets to the Russians, like the Rosenbergs.

Is it any wonder they called her a Russian spy and put her on a terrorist watch list? She makes them nervous because she is a rare, honest politician. They’re just not used to seeing it.

Back in my old life as a Democrat, I was angry enough at Edward Snowden that I mocked Glenn Greenwald when CitizenFour won the Oscar for Documentary Feature. I was coming from a place of ignorance - what else is new? I wish I could take it back. Now I feel like Greenwald is one of the few people I actually trust, and another one of those people is Tulsi Gabbard.

So, I will take their word on Snowden over the word of people who are convinced he deliberately betrayed this country.

Michael Bennet, a Democrat, was by far the most shrill. I look at these Democrats and I think, how are these people still in office? Who votes for them?

Here is Jim Rickards breaking it down on War Room:

And Glenn Greenwald on Megyn Kelly:

This is why we can’t have nice things. These guys were frothing at the mouth with rage. I doubt they’ll vote yes. I hope she can find another way to serve.

Meanwhile, we had yet another horrific episode of hysteria by Adam Schiff who made a fool of himself in the hearings when he went after Kash Patel:

Amy Klobuchar plays the role of the typical Democrat locked away in the Doomsday Bunker with only MSNBC to watch:

But then, we got to watch Ted Cruz smack the Democrats around, which is always fun:

And Glenn Beck with Tristan Justice summing it up on Tulsi and RFK, Jr:

I can see from here the giant dimple where a chin should be.

Yep. That’s Assad.

"Leaking like that has to be inexcusable regardless of the motive, and she doesn't appear to believe that."

I agree with that completely, plain and simple, Snowden violated the letter of the law. The only problem is, there were also people in government who violated laws concerning whistleblower protections that sent the message to Snowden that this legitimate avenues of dissent were not available, or at least, fraught with danger.

Between what Snowden did and what he exposed, he is the lesser of two evils.

I am not very familiar with the details of Snowden saga. However personally I prefer truths be exposed than hidden.

Again, it's not just violating the "letter" of the law. He had plenty of options to send it to a member of Congress, for example. To do what he did was inexcusable of motive.

Every single leaker believes they have a moral justification. They're all wrong.

So I guess we should publicize the location of all of our nuclear subs.

Why not? It would be a huge deterrent. Subs move faster than for a missile to reach them.

Collins is EXTREMELY important.

Agree...my understanding is that the DNI position was Collins idea.

"He had plenty of options to send it to a member of Congress, for example."

He was exposing activity that had been approved by congress. Because he was a contractor, he didn't fall under the same federal whistleblower protections that a .gov employee would have. The other issue he faced is that whistle blower protections are for the exposure of fraud, waste, abuse or illegal activities. What Snowden exposed was deemed legal by the same people that had every interest keeping it from the American populace.

There were a lot of ways to expose illegal activity by the government, and he chose the one that most helped our foes, and most hurt the U.S..

False....there were any number of ways Snowden could have used the data he stole that would have created more harm. He could have sold it to the highest bidder, or given it to foreign country, he could have dumped it all onto the internet, etc. Instead he carefully curated the information and how it was released.

He gave the information to a bunch of journalists whose literal job it was to disseminate information. He then sought asylum in Russia. What was the price for them choosing to grant that and support him?

He could and should have contacted a member of Congress. I stead, he was too chicken to do that so he went the public exposure route instead.

Hope he stays in Russia and never comes back.

,He gave the information to a bunch of journalists whose literal job it was to disseminate information.

False...it was three journalists working together in collaboration to interview Snowden who were given a limited amount of curated information to release to the public.

He then sought asylum in Russia.

False...Snowden's plan was to seek asylum in Latin America but to get there he needed to first transit through countries that didn't kowtow to the United States. Along the way Snowden was prevented from leaving Moscow airport by US which revoked his passport.

If the Obama regime didn't want Snowden to wind up in Russia it should have allowed him to leave.

He could and should have contacted a member of Congress.

You mean like Thomas Drake did, only to get slapped with criminal charges in 2010 and have his life ruined?

Snowden learned from Drake's mistakes which is one reason why he's not rotting in a windowless cell in some supermax facility.

And none of the information that was released damaged the U.S.? Crap - the program could have been reformed without going public but Snowden lacked the guts to try. So instead of approaching a member of Congress and taking the chance it might go wrong, he took the cowards way out and exposed the program to our enemies.
