Syria’s ruler Ahmad Al Shara has demanded that Russia hand over former president Bashar Al Assad and an estimated $2 billion dollars in liquid assets held by the Assad family in Russian banks, during a meeting in Damascus, two sources told The National.
The meeting with a Russian delegation led by deputy foreign minister Mikhail Bogdanov also focused on other issues thorny but reached no agreement beyond maintaining contact, the sources said.
“Handing over [Bashar Al] Assad and all senior officers who escaped to Russia was the top of the list,” said a member of the new political staff at Syria's former presidential palace, where the meeting took place. It was the first high-level, face-to-face contact since the fall of the Assad regime and Mr Al Assad fled to Moscow on December 8.

Surrendering Mr Al Assad “would go a long way towards building up ties” with the new order in Damascus, the Russian delegation were told, the source said.

Syrian Jihadi’s who took over most of Syria are Al Qaeda and ISIS.
The only nation that want any part of them is Erdoo’s Turkey.
And of course he wants to destroy Israel too.
Russia supports Hamas and Hezbollah. They’ll hand over Assad to the Syrian terrorists in orders to keep their military bases in Syria.
The Russians will replace The Z man with Assad when the war is over and nobody will know the difference.😂
Same story; almost the same title: Syria’s new leader Al Shara tells Russia to hand over deposed president Al Assad
Given that stories are picked up by several, might one expect the same story again to be posted? 06:21 and then 07:00......
Russia is going to hand over Assad and $2 billion to the new “leaders” of Syria so they can keep their military bases there.
Assad: I’ve paid Putin $100 million to stay.
Putin: What $100 million?
I think it would be a bad political move to turn Assad over to the Jihadists. He was an ally that let the Ruskies stay in Syria. If the Ruskies pull the rug from under him Russia may have difficulty getting other nations to trust them when they ask for bases/ports in their country. Turning over political allies to an enemy is bad business.
Predicting the future again? You never did answer an earlier question re: "how about "...'next week's negotiations between Trump team and Ukraine in DC.' Have you a source?"
Posting the same story twice within a couple of hours is odd? This early AM EST a lot won't be seeing it. Post it again, huh?
Is Putin going to let Russia be evicted from their only Mediterranean port just to protect Assad? I don’t think so.
“Syrian Jihadi’s who took over most of Syria are Al Qaeda and ISIS.”
It will make them easier to find.

I agree with you. Also, the new leader only controls a portion of the forces and his control is not as absolute as it would be in a Western nation. Enough people in his forces and the other players hate the Russians that the Russians would never be safe. Claiming x attacked the Russians is a recruiting and fund raising tool for x.
How about some Oreshnik missles???
"Israel's official public broadcasting Kan reported that 'senior White House officials conveyed a message to their Israeli counterparts indicating that President Trump intends to pull thousands of US troops from Syria.' It added that 'the withdrawal of American forces from Syria will raise significant concerns in Tel Aviv'."President Trump is certainly considering America first. That 2K contingent will be ever more in harm's way.Trump intends to withdraw US troops from Syria: Israeli media Anadolu Ajansı, 29 January 2025.
Maybe the ICC should go after Assad for murder (250,000) and theft $2 Billion, instead of going after Israelite Jews who are fighting for their survival.
Remember that the Iran Hostage situation occured because the US wouldn’t hand over the Shah.
“Is Putin going to let Russia be evicted from their only Mediterranean port just to protect Assad? I don’t think so.”
The Russian navy in the Mediterranean would not last long in a war.
Even the Ukrainians can sink Russian ships easily.
Russia has a new and better friend in Iran.
The same is true for any American ship.
Russia isn’t gonna hand over Assad to the Syrian head choppers.
They might however Kinzahl the western backed terrorist leadership in Damascus...and good riddance
