That's not surprising. A lot of international business in Europe is conducted in English. And agreements will frequently either be in English or dual language, one of which is English. In Switzerland, even internal corporate communication between an office in Geneva and one in Zurich might well be conducted in English.

Over 20 years ago, I was working in Nice, south of France. There would always be some hookers on the coastline. However, one week there’s LOADS of them, far, far more than normal.
