Strange happenings! Just wondering is it just bad luck, or what? Our rooms at the Embassy, Crystal city, we rented 2 rooms apart from each other different floor, There was No Heat in the rooms! Then our friend Judy traveled Amtrak from New York to Washington D.C. Guess what!? She froze on the train, NO HEAT! She said it was like riding a refrigerated train! When she called to complain, (She paid400 dollars for 2 round trip tickets, AMTRAK told her they would refund her 50 dollars.
By the way, the rooms at the Embassy Suites Crystal City were 400 dollars a piece! The guy at the desk told us he could give us points. I say full refund!!
If you paid by credit card, ask the CC company for a refund because no heat.
Amtrak is everything that is wrong with government public transportation.

If Judy paid by CC, she should cancel the charge immediately and explain in writing why. Anything less than a full reimbursement is unsatisfactory. Same advice for you and the rooms.
I wouldn’t rule out that neither the railcar nor the the hotel was equipped to deal with the weather. I managed a private railcar for a while and it couldn’t handle the cold when simply driving over mountains.

$400?! Good for you, but sorry about the heat! When I searched for hotel rooms the cheapest I found was $2000. Er...I didn’t go.

BTW, I saw at least one official inaugural invitation that makes no mention of DC... instead it refers to “Washington City”
Those entities are not used to dealing with really cold environments. You were the victim of that.
