Trump shuts off access to asylum, plans to send 10,000 troops to border

President Donald Trump is preparing to send around 10,000 troops to the southern border, and Border Patrol agents have been directed to deny entry to asylum seekers because they pass through countries where communicable diseases are present, according to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection briefing document obtained by The Washington Post.

The order does not list any specific disease, essentially closing the border to anyone attempting to exercise the right to seek humanitarian refuge under U.S. law.

To start, the Defense Department is expected to order at least 1,000 additional U.S. troops to the southern border in what could be the first of several waves of deployments, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the discussion who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

The CBP briefing, delivered Tuesday to senior staff at the agency’s headquarters in Washington by newly appointed Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, instructs U.S. agents to use an extraordinary emergency authority to close the border. The only two Border Patrol officials who can authorize the release of an asylum seeker into the United States with a pending humanitarian claim are Banks and his deputy.

The briefing document is an early glimpse into the real-world application of the fusillade of executive orders Trump issued Monday, and their translation into field guidance for the Border Patrol’s 19,000 agents. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

During the coronavirus pandemic, the Trump administration used an emergency public health law to close off asylum access at U.S. borders. This time, Trump officials have not cited a specific disease, instead invoking emergency authorities with the argument that migrants could be carrying any transmissible illness.

The planning document calls for leveraging the...

I’m sure there are hundreds of corrupt agents in that 1900. May want to imprison them while he’s at it.

essentially closing the border to anyone attempting to exercise the right to seek humanitarian refuge under U.S. law.

Like I explained before, people have the right to seek humanitarian refuge in the FIRST country it is safe for them to do so.
So only persecuted Mexicans and Canadians can exercise that right under international law.
But there are no persecuted Mexicans or Canadians, so this order is 100% compliant with international law!
Case closed!

I don’t appreciate the Washington Post announcing possible movement of U.S. troops that are on active security missions.

Putting that aside, if liberals in Congress don’t like the president using laws they created then they should repeal them, if they can.

In the future democrats may want to consider running for president someone that is competent and that has ideas the American people will vote for.

how about just someone that is competent?
As much as I despise him, Clinton was competent
in some things.
Democrat presidents since him were all
functional idiots.

I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking.

“Kill anything that tries to cross using machineguns, tanks, and artillery” would be nice ... Do you think that’s their mission?

Roughly one division.

Just move the Big Red One south. We don’t need it in Kansas anymore.

Don't respond to the DeSantis Troll exnavy.

Go back far enough in his posting history and you will see what I mean.

He has a built-in bias against President Trump.

These are economic refugees, not political refugees. FAIL!

Therefore, they don’t qualify for political refugee asylum status. FAIL!

Further, they have to seek asylum in the contiguous countries, surrounding their respective home country that they are fleeing, if they are in fact legitimate political refugees. FAIL!

Industrial scale fraud has been perpetrated against the United States, by circumventing the process of being properly matched with a legitimate sponsor, if they were even to meet the requirement for being designated a political refugee, because dozens and dozens, if not hundreds of them have the same sponsor which is impossible to implement or believe or accept on it’s face. FAIL!

None of them are vetted. FAIL!

The entirety of them lack the qualifications for being up to date on any required immunizations, as they are devoid of medical shot records. FAIL!
