The CO2 canard is coming apart at the seams
American Thinker ^ | 22 Jan, 2025 | John M. Contino

In 2007, the Supreme Court ruled that carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping emissions (methane, nitrous oxide, and some other stuff) are pollutants under the Clean Air Act and that the government has the authority to curb them.

Since then, the world has been subjected to numerous climate-related laws and treaties, along with assorted governmental, academic, and corporate pressures — all serving to hype the “existential threat” that is climate change. The number-one culprit all along has been atmospheric carbon dioxide.

There is nothing inherently wrong with qualitative versus quantitative statements, but there has been an inordinate amount of hand-waving to explain away the failure over the last 50 years of global temperatures to rise nearly as fast as predicted by the climate alarmists.

“Watts Up With That” claims to be the “world’s most viewed site on global warming and climate change,” for which Collister Johnson recently wrote a short but powerful article with an unassuming title: “The saturation effect questions the prevailing narrative on CO2.”

Over that last decade, several pedigreed scientists have performed qualitative analyses and experiments to disprove the assumption that “increases in atmospheric CO2 will cause a linear and dangerous increase in global temperatures.”

William Happer and William van Wijngaarden are both “accomplished and renowned physicists with over 500 published papers to their credit.”

They applied highly detailed mathematical analytics to the physics of CO2 in the atmosphere and raised serious doubts about CO2’s ability to absorb heat after becoming “saturated” at current levels of 400 parts per million, and therefore unable to absorb significantly more heat from the Sun. Thus, any further increases in atmospheric CO2 — even doubling that amount to 800 parts per million — would only result in minimal increases in atmospheric temperature of 0.5C, or 1degree Fahrenheit. Because it is all a hoax to gain control of the means of production.

Here in the northeast, we are freezing our butts off. We could use a bit of global warming.

The researchers could also check the data from Mars. It has 10x the absolute amount of CO2 in its atmosphere as it it is 93% CO2, and there is no warming at all. 70 degrees at the equator at noon and below zero at night.

And there is enough atmosphere to fly a drone.

I believe the Supreme Court ruling was about whether government could regulate, not whether the science was in any way correct. The subsequent PR from the con artists has been to convince people of the second, not the first.

As the ruling ( "Massachusetts" versus.... ) was a 5-4 ruling in that time, it has been claimed it is MORE than it is. Congress can easily quash this by taking the EPA authority away from "greenhouse" gas regulations -- which the media immediately started abbreviating as GHG and "pollution" -- and I would not be surprised that this will come.

With President Trump again taking us out of the bogus Paris Climate Accord, it is assured more steps in this direction will come.

Best not to accept the corrupt, Leftist media assumptions and verbiage.

Yes. It’s marxist globalism.

They couldn’t take ‘means of production’ away from people and businesses and give it to the state (communism), so they are amping up government taxation of production for redistribution (socialism) in every way possible.

CO2 is nothing more than an excuse to make human productivity expensive and punitive. There is no reason to want to do that to people except for centralizing power.

It’s -8° here in the upper Midwest. Snowstorms in Baton Rouge in the same day, I blame RINOs for just about everything anyway, this decades long scam is no different. The GOPe having joined the rats in two generations with all things evil we are starting to see major cracks in the damn, the federal debt is a perfect example.

Maybe President Trump can write an EO forcing our pathetic congress and senate to take 5th grade level mandatory courses on astronomy and geology like I did over five decades ago and knock these uniparty elected officials up the head sideways as they might learn something.

Pretty sure the whole scam globally would fall apart rather quickly.

I could never figure out why looney left liberals are so intent on starving our plants. Don’t they realize that plants are our very own oxygen factories???

Lots of towns in Florida have received up to 8 inches of snow...We definitely need to reduce “global warming”....

“CO2 is what plants crave!”

Plants use less water in higher CO2 environments. Only seen that mentioned once but a reliable source told me it’s true.
