Donald Trump will order the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska’s Mount Denali in his first hours as the 47th president, The Post has learned.
The Gulf of Mexico will be rechristened the Gulf of America, and Denali, the highest-peaked mountain in North America, will revert back to Mount McKinley — which it was called in the sight of the US government before former President Barack Obama changed the name in 2015.
The renaming of the two natural features is to honor “American greatness,” according to a preview of the orders.

Trump can’t rename the Gulf of Mexico by an executive order. I’m glad he can’t. Can you imagine what some Dem president would do if that was possible?
Give ‘em their dollar back
Trump sees the truth and depth of the left. They rename things all the time to push their idea that America and it’s founders are shameful.
I’m still going to keep calling it the Gulf of Mexico, and the mountain should continue to be called Denali as it was dubbed by those who actually lived there.
Trump lost me on this - it is stupid.
But, I am still going to enjoy watching the Dems have a hissy fit over it, after watching years of their stupidity. Maybe the idea is to give the Dems sensory overload by just issuing tons of weird orders designed to infuriate them on everything, in which case, I hope liberal heads explode in outrage after outrage.
I would really like it if Trump renames the several US Navy ships- like the Harvey Milk- which the Democrats had attached DEI names to...and cancels the Biden orders to rename US bases.
“I don’t object to the name. I just don’t understand how he can make that particular name-change unilaterally. I’m really seriously asking because it confuses me.”
I don’t have an issue with Denali, in fact I like indigenous naming conventions. There’s a history there and to deny that history seems shallow to me.
I feel like indigenous naming conventions are inherently anti-American, which is probably Trump’s thinking behind restoring the name McKinley.
Please don’t air your fantasies out here! /S😁
Wonder how Allysa Milano is doing?
Our maps, our names.
Other countries will do as they wish.
Next: change street and school names back to honor real Americans.
Then, restore the monuments and prosecute the vandals.
What pissed me off about Mount McKinley is who changed it.
The President has executive authority over the department of the interior which included the national park service that changed the name from Me Mckinley to Mt Denali.
President is merely telling his people to change it back. The park service can do it immediately, the USGS may take a while longer
Didn’t mean the mountain. That makes total sense since it’s on American land. Meant Gulf of Mexico. Doesn’t that include international waters where we don’t have control?
“I feel like indigenous naming conventions are inherently anti-American, which is probably Trump’s thinking behind restoring the name McKinley.”
Look at a map, they’re everywhere! And speak of a landscape obscured and forgotten.
IF it does happen, sounds more like a distraction tactic - fill up the stupid media with this nonsense, while other, more important actions are taking place.
A scrap of meat to the starving dogs to keep them occupied.
Hey-the Leftists are all onboard with the false economic theory that breaking windows is good for the economy since all the glass-fixers will need to be hired to fix them.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander!
We can say that the renaming of landmarks or oceans on maps is good for the economy because we will have to hire all these cartographers to change maps, book publishers to change and sell their textbooks...
Instead of “think of the Children” we can say “think of the cartographers and book publishers”!
I love it when we can throw these things right back at them!
I hope he changes the names of military bases in the South back to their original names: Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, etc. Trump won every Southern state except Virginia, and most by more than a 10 percentage point margin.
Clapping enthusiastically.
Panama Canal next
—
Its not really the canal itself that is so important, but the ports on either end. All ships must pass though them. They are controlled by the CCP.
“international waters where we don’t have control”
Then who does have control? The UN? I think not.
Yes. It shouldn't be named for just one country. And notice that Trump is not going to name it, "The Gulf of the United States".
