Artificial intelligence systems are training themselves to do all sorts of things that they were never intended to do. They are literally teaching themselves new languages, they are training themselves to become “proficient in research-grade chemistry without ever being taught it” and they have learned to “lie and manipulate humans for their own advantage”. So what happens when these super-intelligent entities become powerful enough to start exerting control over the world around them? And what happens if these super-intelligent entities start merging with spiritual entities? In fact, could it be possible that there is evidence that this is already happening?

I agree with you. I know it sounds like science fiction and most would laugh at the possibility of it happening. I too would laugh had I not experienced it first hand.
Heck, I didn’t even believe in ghosts or spirits without physical bodies until they started appearing to me. I’m very left brained and logical. When I experienced it, it threw my consciousness in a tailspin as I could no longer trust my logic, that is until I raised my knowledge to a higher level of understanding. Even religion is scientific when you understand the anatomy & physiology of consciousness and the human soul.

The skeptic would say that it’s all in the programming. The computer cannot make a decision unless it is programmed to do so.
Then you move to the next level where a computer makes a logical decision based up the probability of an event happening based upon the results of analyzing previous patterns in the data. It’s still in the programming, but a bit removed.
LOL... Or when Gates moved us from 8 bit CPM to 16 bit DOS systems.
I got a degree in computer science on main frames back in the 1970’s. Did COBOL and Assembler programming on 80 column punched cards. IBM drug their feet on introducing the desktop, so I purchased a Zenith Dual Processor desktop in 1982. I switched my focus in the late 1980’s and hired employees to do my computer work. It changed so fast that I became a dinosaur.
Meanwhile atheistic left-wingers reject the spiritual stuff but do believe it's possible to build a conscious intelligence from material things. Thus they imagine a truly sentient AI capable of destroying humanity through its powers of creative ideation.
Both groups take different paths but wind up in kind of the same place, which is fear of a supernatural AI.
Facebook started doing that pre-pandemic. They’d take picture you and a friend of yours were tagged in and put them to music with various fades for your “friendiversary” (anniversary of when you both pushed the friend button). Then they’re present it to you and you could share it. That’s not AI that’s easy. It’s just pulling the pics out, put them in 4 second clips with randomly selected fades. Once you have the data to crunch it’s 5 minute code.

The devil is just waiting to interface with AI. He’ll move right in. The issue is, how much damage will God permit? How severe the chastisement? The devil is not all-powerful. The Lord remains in charge, always. But there will be a cleansing and it will be very painful. The timeline is not ours to know.

AI needs massive energy to function and grow. Much more than we can produce now. If it’s programmed by the left wing lunatics who are mostly luddites, it will be a very self loathing AI.
