Reading an article about how prepper packages are a waste of money. What suggestions do Freeper preppers have? Example: where does one find bulk, dried fruit? Use of mylar bags with grains & storage? Are you constantly rotating foods in/out? What lasts long in storage?
We all do what we can handle ; no more and no less
Good call for you !
"We all learn as we go..." - exactly true !
Or include more fiber in your diet ..
as MRE's lack fiber, and could tend to 'plug you up' without intestinal preparation
Yeah, but I have found New FoundLand and New Brunswick more to my liking, ethnically,
since they are both more removed from the mainland, but still subject to the politics of Ottawa Canada.
Get me as far away as possible from any Trudeau influence.
I was trying to be “gentle.” LOL
Yeah…that stuff will gum you up fast.
On the other hand the probability of a storm blowing up and you being without power for a week or so has happened before repeatedly and will likely happen again.
Actually the 90% scenario has happened. Read about the Toba Catastrophe.
But your point has merit otherwise in that . . . nobody is going to die if a storm comes thru and you’re absent power for a day or three or five.
Prepping is about staying alive. Not comfort, or at least that was the original idea.
Oh and then there was 1348 and the Black Plague. Attention is mostly Europe in the write ups, because people can’t read Chinese. The percentage wipe out would have been far more impressive just 150 yrs later when someone could bring it to the western hemisphere.
The quoted % totals were held down because the millions in the western hemisphere didn’t get it.
That is simply not true and proof you don't really read these threads.
Most here are preppers, not survivalists and prep for what we're facing.
Here in NH we don't have the risk of earthquakes or floods, or even tornado outbreaks, although a small one is not completely out of the question. The terrain here is not right for tornado development.
Our big issues are snow and possible ice storms and most people here are ready for them with power outages for possibly several days.
For anything serious, we do need to be prepped for forever, but that does not mean physical supplies. It means making yourself right with God.
You sure jerked everyone’s chain, you wouldn’t answer any questions or respond to anyone on this thread.
I have a life & looking at thread this morning. Get a life.
Always in the back of my mind. We live in town but have family in the country to fall back on.
Interesting and not something I would have thought of on my own. What I love about FR is the varying perspecties.
Agreed but thinking more along of COVID when things got tight not necessarily an act of God.
Thank you. That’s a great link. I’ll do a deep dive later.
I Googled them but unfortunately not in my area.
Amazon has a lot of dried fruit that I’m looking at. So purchase fruit and then seal in #10 cans? What’s the benefit vs. 5 gallon buckets wit mylar?
Have $$ covered in silver eagles and gold backs and have an AR15 plus .380. Looking at a .22 for capacity and $$ for ammo.
You’re well on your way!
I had lunch a couple months ago with a retired naval commander and he mentioned what a hellhole cities like Chicago and NY would be in a disaster.
Interesting. Thanks for the tip.
“Move as far away from urban areas as you can.”
This. Zombies won’t go to a lot of effort to get to you if there is low-hanging fruit nearby. It’s also all a waste of time if you don’t constantly use what you have.
