Why I Regret Marrying a Man With a Well-Paying Job
New York Post ^

e says her husband’s well-paying job has come at an incredibly sad cost — her own career. “My husband earns well, not loads, but realistically it’s always going to be more than me. It naturally means my career has had to take a back seat while I’m at home with the kids,” she explained.

“But we’ve got no additional support, and someone does need to do the child-related things. This lands on me.” Currently, the mother works part-time, but she isn’t satisfied. “Sometimes I wish I had the luxury of working more,” she said. “I miss my job and independence.” Taking to a moms’ forum, she sought closure. However, responses were divided.

“Could I insist he quit his job? I’m not sure I could. A reluctant and resentful stay-at-home dad or part-time one? Hardly a good idea,” she said. The family can’t afford a nanny, they can’t move to find better childcare options, and the mother can’t work from home.

She sounds like the kind of person who wouldn't be happy in any situation.

Hang on. I thought all the cool, rich kids worked from home? Why aren’t both high-flying parents at home, doting on their kids and making big money jiggling the mouse? At least mom can do that, right? 🫠

No names. No description of either her or her husband's jobs. Stock photos.

What a pointless and useless article.

Exactly.

And women (being the superior sex, after all) just get better mentally and intellectually, with age.

She has it made. A lot of moms would love to be able to stay home with their kids. Some people are never happy.

We as a culture have stopped teaching our children how ti be parents.

Go look at the 1950s thru 80s toy commercials. Baby dolls little girl dolls walking dolls and sll accouterments. Homemaking equipment.

We have forgotten how to teach our children to really live!

Obviously she resents her children, as they have “stolen” her freedom and independence. What a shallow, self-centered, whiny, spoiled little *****. I feel sorry for her children. And her husband. She resents him too. Their marriage is doomed.

It probably comes as a surprise to these women (are we allowed to say that anymore?) have breasts that produce milk for babies. If they don’t like the natural order of the mammalian kingdom they can take it up with God.

It sounds to me that she should live alone and die alone.

I hope the DOJ employees feel that way about the meritless Garland.....

When it seemed like a lot of my customers had young, shy, extremely quiet Guatemalan girls raising their children, it seem to bother the feminist career wives when I would off handedly mention something about the irony of who their daughters female role model was.

Indeed the torture. My mother was very lazy but she got to stay home her whole life while my dad chained himself to a job he hated to take care of everyone. She never paid bills, never had to work (though she did for “fun” jobs that weren’t really jobs, had horses, had hobbies, had friends to hang out with all day, didn’t cook or clean, and had all day to watch daytime TV like Donahue. His reward? An early grave. I don’t think I had more than 1/2 an hour of conversation with him.

That being said... if any of those woman want me to knock them up and pay all my bills in exchange for watching the kids and caring for the house send me a private message....

i was just thinking that if she isn’t happy now, she never will be and will make everyone around her miserable because of it- many women would be happy to have such a life-

My wife wanted to work and I permitted it. It gave her something valuable to do and a means to earn some retirement money. After my first round of cancer in 1985, it was an even better idea. She didn't earn a huge income. Mine has always been about 7x more than she earned. I just did a W4 with single 0 because her income was always undertaxed due to the marriage penalty. I put my W2 into TurboTax and a nice fat refund appears. I put her W2 and most of the refund is gone. Some of it returns after processing property taxes. My wife has retired now, so doing taxes in 2025 will be an adventure. Her social security/pension for 2024. My salary and a few months of short term disability after the cancer surgery. The rental with $20,000 in repairs from a bad tenant who didn't pay rent.

I did ask my wife to stop working for a few years and pay attention to raising the kids. Our oldest son was insufficiently supervised at one daycare and returned home with a diaper full of rubber grapes. A kid in daycare is learning values from the daycare provider...some that may not comport with your own. It is better to raise them with your own good values and pursue a career after they are all attending school.
