Meet John Larson, a paraplegic firefighter who is breaking barriers with the LAFD.
Paraplegics are grossly underrepresented in the LAFD.
At first, i thought it was serious. It is California, after all.
> Paraplegics are grossly underrepresented in the LAFD. <
As are blind firefighters and firefighters over 80. Somebody ought to tell Gov. Newsom about that.
SCTV did it first, over 40 years ago. A skit about a paraplegic (paralyzed from the neck down) policewoman.
omg. Imagine if there was a fat lesbian as an asst firechief who tells people who are stuck in a fire and expecting her to rescue them that they are in the wrong place at the wrong time - oh.... wait....

They are. I hear there’s not a single active-duty quadriplegic on the LA force.
But seriously, I wish the guy well. He’s got to be extremely motivated.
Oh, never mind… I see this is The Bee.
So did I.
Okay, I’ll admit it. I just read the headline and didn’t check to see who the author was. So I got stung by the Bee, again.

Quote “If I cannot roll you out of a fire then you are in the wrong place.”
I’m eagerly awaiting the nation’s first blind Air Force pilot.
“Nero” Newsom, you mean. The nickname fits him.
“Deaf and blind” politicians are over represented in every state, and many of them have become financially well off without actually helping many of their constituents. Talk about succeeding through “adversity”!
As are firefighters (either sex) over 600 lbs. Nobody could fireman's carry him/her.
ROFL
And I love that his name is lArson.
bee! stop giving them ideas!
That reminds me of a photo in the early 1970’s in the Chicago Tribune: a blind poll watcher for one of Chicago’s elections.
It was not faked.
Sounds reasonable.
We can have blind snipers, deaf tune operators, brainless scientists, and idiotic presidents.
Was the polling place near Ray’s Music Exchange?
